Let's face it. These boys are bigger, stronger, and faster than ever before, for the most part. Just the name Clowney is scary as frick to me.

I'm crafting an art form here

Merritt Hall wishes he could move fast enough for Clowneysaurus to notice he exists. No, Clowney is the t-rex from Jurassic Park and he will only pause to take out that nag Quayvon Hicks/Ian Malcolm en route to massacaring the lawyer on the toilet/Murray.

There is a God and he hates all of us (even Carolina because he blesses them with a demi-God at DE and nothing else, just to make them squirm)

Now wait just a second, just because he is white... Nah he's still fricked.

Is it possible that he gained weight and muscle and some hard dick beat writer is throwing out arbitrary "40 lbs of muscle" statements?

Realistically he got stronger and gained 20 lbs of muscle/mass by exercise and diet. 40 lbs of muscle in 6-8 months just sounds ridiculous.

Seems like this type of story pops up every year, especially being an Alabama fan

Edited bc I went back and read the article and nowhere does it say he gained 40 lbs of muscle. I guess that was just the OPs speculation..

Gurley was at 220 last year. They mentioned it in the Vandy game.

Having seen them both this Spring, both Gurley and Marshall look thicker ( in a good way), but it is Marshall who has really started filling out his frame. Gurley already was pretty filled out.

That was the title from the site I originally found the link.

Within the article it also says from 195 to 232. Which is obviously not exactly 40 lbs., but I was rounding.

The article says weight, not specifically muscle

More like 220, but point is still the same. He was 218 at the start of last season and has actually lost a few pounds since that 232 weigh-in.

He'll play this year at around 225 after playing most of last year in the 215-220 range. Watching the way he runs, I wouldn't want to see him add a single pound if I were a defender.

He was probably 195 on NSD.

No kidding... he would've been broken in half running like he did at 195.

The SEC's two leading rushers were both under 200 lbs? How did either of them survive?

re: So Todd Gurley has gained 40 lbs...of muscle. According to this article anyway (Posted on 6/22/13 at 9:57 pm to bona fide)

Assuming he's been trying to gain weight since arriving last year thats about 3.5lbs per week. 40lbs over a year is a lot and pushing questionable but it's doable. No way is it all muscle though.

--------------------------------------------------

Saaaaaaay what? 3.5 lbs a week? Maybe you should refigure? At 3.5 lbs a week it would only take 12 weeks. Surely you mean a month?

Yeah, only Alabama players lift weight in the offseason and gain muscle. Every other team in America sits on their Lazy-Boy's eating pasta and pizza in their dorms and just get fat weight put on them.

ETA: I think it is pretty safe to assume with his frame, Gurley is adding good muscle weight to his body. 40 lbs, in one offseason, is way off base. Gurley's "listed" weight was 195 lbs going into his senior year of HS. He is currently 6'2 and up to around 230. Not a big change when you are 18 years old and working for the first offseason on a SEC training schedule. Especially, when you consider that he actually arrived at UGA last year at around 215-220 lbs.

The matchup with LSU is gonna be a slugfest. I'm looking forward to it

On Keith Marshall...

quote:

However, in 2013 Marshall is looking to take his game to another level. He wants to show that he can run between the tackles more consistently and gain those tough yards like Todd Gurley was able to do last season. He wants to show that he can break those arm tackles and get more of those 20+ yard runs. Marshall also wants to improve his receiving skills out the backfield which were on display during the Bowl Game against Nebraska when he made an unbelievable catch along the sideline.

quote:

It is obvious from seeing him up close that he has worked very hard to take his game to the next level. He has transformed his body into that of a grown arse man now. His thighs look like Todd Gurley's and his arms are starting to look like Trent Richardson. From being up close and personal to him I would say he is 225 now (where he was around 212 last season)and he certainly looks every bit as fast as he was last season.

haha saying you gained 40 pounds of pure muscle in 12 months is the same thing as saying you've been juicing for 12 months.
