The scope of the NCAA's forensic requests is striking. The organization asked that phones belonging to Golding, Thomas, inside linebackers coach Jay Shoop, outside linebackers coach Matt Kitchens, director of player personnel Jai Choudhary, senior associate athletic director Matt McLaughlin and Ferrelli himself all be forensically imaged, with phone records from December 2025 through January 2026 submitted to enforcement staff.
That's a wide net, and it suggests investigators aren't treating this as a fringe allegation. Golding, in his first full season as Ole Miss head coach after replacing Lane Kiffin, has offered only a partial rebuttal. "There's two sides to every story," he told reporters in April.
That's a thin response given the specificity of what Swinney described on the record. NCAA vice president of enforcement Jon Duncan confirmed the investigation in January, stating the organization would "investigate any credible allegations of tampering and expect full cooperation from all involved."
Based on the scale of the potential evidence that could arise, Ole Miss's culpability looks difficult to argue against. The evidence trail Swinney laid out in January was detailed, timestamped and corroborated by multiple parties.

That's a steep price tag. If Ole Miss is smart they will just give them the finger. The NCAA has no subpoena power.

That’s probably exactly what’s happening.

Yeah get fricked. They’re not a court of law and have absolutely zero legal authority to subpoena. “Requests” lmfao that’s all they can do.

I pray the NCAA tries to go after Ole Miss when Chambliss was granted a TRO from a real court. We’d sue them into oblivion. That’s the whole point of the TRO.
Same with the tampering shite.
1. Their selective enforcement 2. Their attempt to restrict a person’s freedom of association would be laughed out of court.
The NCAA’s argument is that they have the authority to force a player to take a pay cut and economically damage him even though no contract exists between Firelli and Clemson. Good luck retards.

Whatever happens LSU fans will keep us informed.

What people don't realize if NCAA does come down on us LSWHO will be next.. Lane loves tampering with recruits

quote:Doesn't a TRO just keep someone from imposing a rule for a "temporary" time? If the NCAA eventually wins the Chambliss case and told you not to play him then you get to vacate any wins he played in. The NCAA will have to finalize the case because everyone and their brother would go the TRO route for everything possible in the future.

It's odd that you're under investigation and he isn't then.

You may be, and probably are right. The NCAA is worthless.
But, this is one area where they may be looking to make an example of someone. And they won’t do it to a true “Blueblood”
But open tampering and offering cash to someone already enrolled and in class might be the hill the NCAA decides to die on.

The court ruling has precedence. The NCAA can't punish the parties while the case works its way through the system. That's what the preliminary injunction is. It's a court order prohibiting the NCAA from ruling a player ineligible. Part of the reason the NCAA has to defer to the courts is because it is a de facto monopoly. Like if one beer league won't allow a guy to play, he can just go down the street to another one and get access. But the NCAA must grant relief to student athletes when ruled to do so because they don't have other viable comparable alternatives
