So, about those claims that adding OU and Texas would increase the TV money...

Not a slam on the sooners or horns, but last year, people were telling us that adding OU and Texas would result in some bonanza for the league. Turns out, that's not the case.
That's not a particularly well written paragraph, so let me state it more clearly:
Contractually, the only thing ESPN is obligated to do as a result of the additions of OU and Texas is to increase the contract payment to the SEC enough so that each member school gets the same money that they would have gotten with no expansion. In other words, they only have to pay enough to cover OU's and Texas's pro rata share. Not a penny extra will go to the existing members.
Now, going to a 9 game schedule might move ESPN to make some adjustments, but they are under no obligation to do so.
Again, I'm not slamming OU and Texas; the situation would be the same regardless of who we added. But, I do think that it shows that Sankey's motivation for adding those two schools was very much of a defensive nature, and only intended to make sure that they didn't go elsewhere, like the Big Ten. I still maintain that, had the SEC not made the first move to disrupt the status quo, the Big Ten very well might have passed on OU and Texas had the SEC turned them down first, and all of college football would be better off if things had played out that way.

Industry sources have suggested that the SEC may be able to use the addition of Oklahoma and Texas to generate more revenue. While the league’s deal with Disney calls for a pro rata increase for additional members, it’s possible Disney could be willing to pay more to keep the relationship happy.

I agree with Colonel Ignoramus on this one.

80-90 mil per school is the rough figure OU has told boosters.

College football is being ruined by conference expansion and realignment. The SEC was perfect with 10 teams.

I opined last spring that this would be the demise of the SEC.

I am beginning to agree. This looked like a hit last summer when it went down but now if looks like a foul.

Yet you argue that Rutgers and Maryland was a valuable, worthwhile addition. Lol.

I’m sorry, but Nebraska, Maryland, and Rutgers being in the Big 10 is just plain stupid.
Mizzou being in the SEC is absurd.
Texas and Texas A&M should never have been separated, and certainly never stopped playing annual games against each other.
West Virginia in a conference without Pitt is idiotic.
USC and UCLA being in the same conference as Rutgers and Maryland is just f$&king insane.

One thing not being considered is that ESPN is about to save a bunch of money with the end of the LHN.
Frees up a bunch of money to keep SEC happy.

You will get downvoted, but I agree. Sankey blew up the status quo only to get out played, whiff dramatically on an 8-team playoff and leave the conference's fate completely in the hands of the mouse until 2033.

Adding Texas hasn't been good for any conference. They think so much of themselves that they should go independent like Notre Dame. They aren't all that, but they think they are.

Not hard to figure out aggy …. You have a thing called a current contract …. When teams get added they will add a portion of money for OU and Texas equal to what every other member gets …..
When the contract ends The sec will make more money with OU and Texas becuase of our brands . The sec could also request new money in this current contract . Worst case is we have to wait a few years for larger paydays . You also Leaving out a key amount of money from any future playoff expansion . More teams equal more dollar and we won’t know for sure if Texas or OU makes it but I can say More money is coming regardless just due the odds the sec gets 5-7 teams in a 12 team playoff .
Big 10 at its peak won’t make what the sec does they are averaging 1 bil a year for 16 teams …

62.5 million per team.
There might be a bit more per team. Even with that I would imagine the BT teams make about 90 mill each.
Not a very good deal after all
edit to add-
The numbers from the Big 10 are shaking out....to the tune of about $62,500,000 per school.
Plus $20,000,000 from the BTN per school per year. So, 82,500,000 per school and the deal could go up another $3,000,000,000
So I was right, about 90 mill per school
