This. I think UCF fans can see what we were frustrated about. Mainly player development, taking one step forward and two steps back. I went all in on Harsin, and I admit I was dead wrong. If we had made a better hire this wouldn't even be a question.

Compete for championships year in year out. He only did it 2 out of 8 years and was trending down. Lost 4 games in one of those years too. Losing to Georgia so many times didn’t help his cause either.

He got 8 years to build a program and we weren’t where we wanted to be. I don’t really know why that’s so hard to understand.

He beat UGA what twice? He blew a 20pt or more lead at LSU, lost to a bad SC team one year. His bowl record was abysmal and recruiting was trending downward.

Gus was 0-14 outside of Jordan hare against Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and Clemson.

Next question.

So, he couldn’t win tough games on the road. Any idea why? I mean, road environments are tougher but it shouldn’t be night and day.

When Freeze gets fired Auburn will hire Kiffin and he will take the job this time just to punish Alabama for not hiring him. Once Kiffin comes to Auburn we will regret it for the next 20 years.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lane head back to the NFL one day. He’s having fun now but surely he won’t be joking around on Twitter and dating newly minted college grads ten years from now.

Gus is a big reason why Auburn lost its series lead against Georgia. Haskins and Chiz didnt help either.

Gus was great against the inferior teams and good against Bama every odd year. So he ended up being 8-5 many years. Not much to write home about with him

Nope.

Won games he shouldn't have, then lost games he shouldn't have. Tired of the rollercoaster.

Gus didn’t develop talent very well, displayed questionable roster management and refused to change his offensive scheme and had gotten pretty paranoid in his latter years.

For some reason his online evaluations were lacking, which made it difficult to bring in SEC caliber linemen. He couldn’t let go of the offense even though he tried on multiple occasions, he tinkered and toyed with it and ran through coordinators.

He was a nerdy but likable guy, he loved Auburn and ran a well disciplined and clean program. He just couldn’t find a way to get over the hump and fans lost faith.

Take a look at our recruiting and then guess.

ETA: He really could have been a good coach. Needed to find someone outside his circle to implement a modern passing game. Needed to realize blue chip players on the oline are crucial. He could never do those things.

Contrary to Bama thinking not everything revolves around beating you.

Yes. When firing Gus, they needed a replacement in mind. You don't fire Gus to hire Harsin.

None of them will believe you but it's true. The 2019 Iron Bowl was funny I guess, but no one really remembers it because we had nothing to play for.

I bet if he’d been able to win bowl games, he’d still have been at Auburn today. Auburn would have a hard time firing a coach that averaged 9 win seasons with consistency. At least the aggravation from the fan base would’ve lessened for a few more years.

His program had become stale. He was so good at one time that saban cried about "player safety". Good times.
