re: Serious question - Aggies, what are you expecting from Jimbo this year?

8-4 baby

I want to see a 10-2 season or better but would be willing to bend on 9-3, no lower though.
Seeing how we're coming off of 5-7 which is of course far below expectations, do i think the above is reasonable expectations? Yes, considering we're in year 6 of Jimbo's regime - it's time for Jimbob to have his team and acquired talent prove themselves on the field.
8-4 or below would be a disappointment.

Y’all might have saved yourselves some of this grief if you hadn’t come charging into this board years ago like a bunch of stumbling drunks running off at the mouth about how A&M was going to take over the SEC. I think many of you have learned your lesson. The Horn posters are currently making the same mistake. OU posters, who own your former conference, are wisely holding their tongues for the most part.
lol. talk about a re-write of history. EVERYONE and their brother in the SEC, the Big 12, and even our own fan base figured A&m was going to have its head handed to it for the first few years.
That team ended up the best in the country by January. But thanks for your fantasy revision .

quote:lol didn’t a&m have to beat OU twice to advance? So if a&m won, they would NOT have played for the national championship, correct? So his point remains: A&M has never even played in a contest where, if they won, they’d be competing for a national title. But congrats on bragging about getting beat in your athletic department’s single biggest game ever I guess?
Now I know you aren't playing with a full deck, but try to keep up with me here:
The winner of that game... DID advance to the championship.

It’s incredible how y’all still don’t understand how this works. Oh wait…

True. And any respectable program would never have offered a contract as fricking stupid as that.

Not to mention your school song is entirely about another school who owns a winning record in your home stadium and hasn't played you in over a decade.
We get y’all desperately want that to be true, as it’s the only thing that takes the sting off losing to a 5-7 team with a potential playoff spot still on the line, but it simply isn’t.
Now old A&M? Absolutely there’s lots of old Ags who judged a decent season by if we beat the longhorns or not, but those were graduates from the 50s through the 80s mostly, and definitely not representative of the majority of the fanbase now.
But don’t let me get in the way of your fantasy/hyperbole, go ahead and believe what you want.
It also doesn't help your stance when your stands look like this when you're not playing one of LSU, Alabama or Texas:

ETA: based on the votes, it looks like there were more aggies upset from this post than there were aggie fans that attended the game photo'd above

If we want to go that route, 1975 football fits the bill. Maybe the most disappointing loss in school history up at Arkansas.

The bigger question: When will LSU ever have a winning record against Jimbo at TAMU?
In the amount of time Jimbo has coached at A&M LSU has appeared in 2 NY6 bowls, won the SECW twice, and won a natty. I’ll take that trade any day of the week. Also the loss to A&M last year can be counted as payback for our horrendous 2021 team pulling a win vs A&M out of their arse.

I believe the long-standing rule on TRant is:
First you have your coach beat the opponent before you can talk shite. Otherwise you have to keep quiet.

I hope he at least has his canned responses copied into a spreadsheet for quick reference and easy copy/paste into these threads.
If he really spends all his time typing those same 6 posts out over and over again all day every day, he'll never be able to get a real job.

A: Best not to expect much.
A&M needs a program builder, someone who has the skill set to harness the existing resources. Jimbo inherited his "fortune" @ FSU and almost destroyed it. Does anyone look @ him and see "program builder"? That requires high intelligence, charisma, leadership excellence & innovation. He's a sloppy rube, stuck in his ways and difficult to work with.. the polar opposite of what's required.
He's not and never will be a difference maker in College Station.
