No one could have predicted in 1990 that Steve Spurrier was going to turn Florida into the juggernaut that it became. His Gators were a constant thorn in the side of Phillip Fulmer and the Vols. By the time Spurrier left for the NFL in January 2002, Alabama was about to be on major NCAA probation and Tennessee was about to begin their long decline into a period of genuine irrelevance.

By the time Alabama emerged from its punishment in 2008 (its first full recruiting class without sanctions in half a decade), Tennessee was cooked.

Tennessee Alabama never really happened because starting in 2007, Tennessee went into a death spiral. Bottom of the SEC to mediocrity. UF LSU is surprising that it never happened not even once. LSU played UGA and UT several times. No UF.
