Tennessee shouldve played Bama in the SECCG in 1999 and 2015 but we lost to a terrible arkansas team in 1999 and a terrible Florida team in 2015

Wouldve loved to see Tennessee own Shaun Alexander again

Those coaches collectively owned y'all. What are you yapping about lol

And you are talking pretty high and mighty considering Bama nearly doubles y'all's SECCG appearances

No, it was Gus running KJ into the ground that lost the UGA game, not his dipshit mouthing off.

No it wasn't. He was our offense. Like we were going to do great not giving him the ball a bunch of times. No one complained when he ran Tre Mason into the ground in the SECCG in 2013 and we scored an avalanche of points on Missouri.

2017 Kerryon
vs Bama 30 carries
SECCG 13 carries

2013 Tre Mason
vs Bama 29 carries
SECCG 46 carries

Tennessee/Alabama and Florida/LSU got played during the season. Not that it was impossible, but it made it more difficult for those matchups to happen. I think in '06 the only loss between the two was that one game and they both lost to Auburn. There just wasn't enough room for error.

The way that Georgia and LSU's SECG history has mimicked each other and overlapped is interesting.

Neither team made it to the SECCG in the '90s, and the 90's were miserable and frustrating for both fanbases. Then they both broke through around the same time and both got in 3 times between 2001-2005.

LSU has played in 7 SECCGs and Georgia was the opponent in 4 of them.

Georgia has played in 8 SECCGs and obviously LSU was the opponent in 4 of them.

Auburn-Florida. It should have been the SEC Championship game in 1993, but Auburn was on probation.

I don't think UGA and Auburn met in the SECCG either.

2017. Auburn beat UGA in the regular season, then got destroyed by them in the SECCG. That 2017 Auburn team was probably the most Auburn a team has ever been.

Loses to Clemson to start the season, scoring only 6 points.

Barely loses on the road to LSU (by 4).

Beats #1 Georgia by 28
Beats #1 Alabama by 12

Goes to SECCG with a shot at the playoffs, loses by 21
Gets beat by UCF in the Peach Bowl

Went from potential national title contender to barely making the top 10 and finishing with 4 losses while watching the two teams they beat in the regular season play for the national title in what was the most exciting finish in a national title game in ages if not ever.

Yes we shouldve played for it more times

More than that, though, UT should have won a conference title this century…and yet here we are. Meanwhile, the rest of the Big 6 has multiple titles in that timeframe. Even Auburn. Yikes!

The 2006 Georgia/Auburn game was the most random Georgia/Auburn game imo. I remember before kickoff Aubie on TV wearing a Santa hat and a sign that said "All I want for Christman is a national championship."

We pretty much sucked that season and were limping to the finish line. And then this happened…

…Still makes very little sense.

all LSU has ever done is have Milroe run a train on them

Look, I’ll rail the swamp kittens with anybody, but they’ve won 3 natties under 3 different coaches since the days when Peyton never did.

I’d tap the brakes a bit here.

Houston Nutt was coaching out the season before he got "released" when he knocked off #1 LSU in his last game as Razorbacks HC. Weird things happen.

I fully believe that, when the divisions were first set up, Alabama/Tennessee was the primary target matchup in the minds of the decision makers. Strange that it never happened.

I think you’re on something.

For me, it’s pretty easy. Yes SEC wanted Alabama versus Tennessee but the problem is they were permanent cross division rivals and they played each other every year handing one of them a loss.

You can say the same for LSU v Florida. A permanent non-division foe is going to hand one of them a loss and often times to get to the SEC , You’re going to have an eight win record get over get in over a seven win record. That one
Loss to cross Div foe is what did it so many times.

Auburn, Georgia lucked out in that one year

OP is on a good subject.
