Throwing money at every issue=solution
Giving money back to taxpayers=problem

The logic of the Left. It’s always a taxpayer problem but never a government problem.

So I guess it's going on as planned? Or maybe just today's games? You'd think if they were preventing fans from coming they would've made that announcement on Monday at the latest. People are already traveling to go now.

And their students are ignoring it. There's a picture on Twitter of Columbia students mass gathering on the quad to get some sun. Laying on blankets, chatting, playing frisbee. They just completely blew off the order to disperse from campus.

Not likely. Not enough cases in the area to warrant action.

1) They test at a mass level. The failure of the Federal Government to prepare for mass testing means this hasn't been and won't be an option. But, hey we did get that awesome tax cut 2 years ago that gutted the CDC Pandemic preparedness budget. (South Korea test 10,000 people a day vs tUSA which has tested 5000 people to date with 1000 positive test)

Since that hasn't been and won't be an option.

You wanna know how I can tell that you're a massive cuck fig?

2) The other option is to limit interaction via quarantine or containment practices. The next 2 months the USA has been left with option 2 because we failed so miserably on option 1

The load of flaming bull#### you just posted (especially the bolded part) is precisely why some of us on here are so critical of the media's reporting on this virus and is why some of us feel it's necessary to make a political point over a situation that shouldn't be political.

The media's "Trump's slashing of the CDC budget is why we find ourselves in this situation narrative is an blatant utter bull#### lie that has been clearly debunked by the AP no less. The fact that you and others unquestionably believe it enough to spread the lie is why many of us are right to criticize the media's coverage of the virus.

The lack of widespread testing is a valid criticism of the administration. Thankfully, Trump greatly limited/banned travel to and from highly affected regions starting in late January thus limiting the potential exposure here in our country. Other than adequate test kits which admittedly has been a failure, the administration has done everything reasonable in it's power to limit the health and economic damage in this country.

The media lie you parroted about Trump slashing the CDC budget (when in reality the budget was increased) is why the media in this country is rightly criticized and called "fake news". The fact that so many people unquestionably believe everything the media feeds them because they're that gullible or it supports their anti-Trump narrative/agenda is why their often false reporting is do dangerous and effective. You obviously fell for it.

Stop shitting ITT about politics. We have a hellscape for that and its called the Poly board.

I've heard people argue the SEC would cancel the tournament before they would hold it without fans because the TV contract money isn't enough to offset the financial loss of holding the event without fans. While on its face that sounds reasonable... but the ACC football championship game exist and they still hold that without fans every year.

WHO just officially declared this a Global Pandemic. Also, this just happened.

Coronavirus: Top Trump Expert Warns "Many Millions Could get sick or Die" "The Corona Virus is 10x More Lethal Than the Flu"

quote:

The White House's top infectious disease official said the number of Americans who could get sick or die from the coronavirus if the country does not implement an "aggressive" response could be "many, many millions".

Anthony Fauci, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director, told the House Oversight and Reform Committee that Trump administration officials "cannot predict" a number of Americans who will contract the novel virus because it is still crafting and putting in place its response.

He warned lawmakers against "sitting back" and getting "complacent."

"It is going to be totally dependent on how we respond to it. I can't give you a realistic number" at this point, Mr Fauci told lawmakers.

Fair enough. I shouldn't have brought politics into in the other thread but my response in this thread because the post I was responding to brought it up and parroted a debunked lie in doing so.

There are far too many people parroting proven media lies either due to simple ignorance of the facts or flat out hatred of the president. False, debunked media narratives should be called out when they are spread.

"Trump's top medical expert said coronavirus is 10 times more deadly/worse than the flu"

That's obviously very concerning. I'm fine with a few drastic measures like a completely fanless NCAA tourney for example and other such drastic measures if it's necessary to dramatically slow the spread of the virus and if it's relatively temporary.

Ironically, I think the biggest problem at this point is that the lack of adequate testing has resulted in a relatively small sample size of confirmed infected people in this country when unfortunately there are likely thousands more undiagnosed Americans with the virus.

Until everyone with the virus is diagnosed and counted and we have solid info/numbers of those infected, it can't be effectively contained and we also won't have a reliable mortality rate to effectively know exactly how deadly the virus is. As is always the case, the unknown is the scary part.

If you look at the countries that have successfully mitigated the virus vs the ones who have struggled to do such their are two common themes:

1) They test at a mass level. The failure of the Federal Government to prepare for mass testing means this hasn't been and won't be an option. But, hey we did get that awesome tax cut 2 years ago that gutted the CDC Pandemic preparedness budget. 2) The other option is to limit interaction via quarantine or containment practices. The next 2 months the USA has been left with option 2 because we failed so miserably on option 1.

You'd better get used to such eneptness because you'll have to deal with it for the next FIVE years!

Who’s alter am I? I’m not an alter, but I’d find it humorous to know who’s triggering you into this conspiracy theory that Im someone else because I believe in coronavirus.

Also my comment had nothing to do with coronavirus.
Stop being a weirdo.

How likely is it that this becomes a no fans event?

Likely. I work downtown and only the AT&T building has been shut down after 1 confirmed case. I feel like the city and my company especially is hiding shite from us.
