Mizzou was in contact with a player.
Due to all this they dropped it despite the player having a TRO against the NCAA.
The player then listed Mizzou administration itself given they were in violation of a court order and preventing his relief. Which is accurate. That’s the argument of the Louisiana attorney general in her brief. A hastily thrown together rule now puts LSU in the position of choosing to obey the court or be legally liable but avoid penalties from the conference

There is the difference, that person sued Mizzou directly.
Nobody sued LSU except the SEC.

Can you not read?
If they did not continue the process with the player they would expose themselves to being sued.
Just like Mizzou
Hence an impossible choice
LSU just is more American and followed the rule of law

Maybe it’s been addressed in the previous 10 pages, but what is the point of the SEC suing LSU if the SEC was going to enforce its rules and significant penalties on LSU no matter the outcome of today’s ruling?

I imagine judges yelling like Oprah - You get an injunction! YOU get an injunction!
They just want to force us not to play these guys this year and then it'll go away.
However, Chambliss is breaking SEC and NCAA eligibility rules right now and a TRO is protecting him. Is he going to get caught up in this?

And also kick LSU out of the conference.
Seems the SEC is just throwing everything against the wall and seeing what sticks.

There is nothing illegal about telling someone to go to court
So the players couldn't sue to begin with then either, as no laws were being broken by telling them they can't play football after signing a contract with a professional organization.
Pretty sure they're implying LSU is in violation of the SEC's bylaws, not of any federal law. This is civil court, not criminal.
I'm not saying they have a case, but you can sue people and institutions for being in breach of contract. If the SEC feels that they can imply that asking the players to engage in lawsuits against their own parent organization is in violation of the bylaws they agreed to then the SEC absolutely can sue.
We'll just have to wait and see.

I genuinely do feel bad for the reasonable LSU fans, which believe it or not are a majority of their fans. Not a majority on Tigerdroppings but a majority attending games and tailgating on Saturdays

Pretty sure they already do. Even the NFL coaches didn't admit to conversations with Kiffin but there might be texts.

Kiffin thought he was Saban 2.0 and could get away with some stuff. He forgot how hated he is, and that the majority of the SEC bigs hate Kiffin with a passion.
He created enough drama over the last year for the league that they are going to make him, and by extension, LSU pay the price.
