Mizzou is contention until they are eliminated from the SECCG, while unlikely, there still is a shot

It would take a minor miracle with their schedule.

It doesn't work that way. It's based on the rankings. How is it that people don't understand this?

Yep, I know there are a few of the tiebreaker scenarios that would have to play out.

Ah yes, 20 is considerably much more than the 18 they put up against you

Alabama isn't losing to Auburn in T-Town. They destroy Auburn in T-Town. A Iron Bowl in JHS is Auburn s only hope, which will be next year.

Ole Miss lost to Kentucky and badly to LSU, I am not sure what beauty contests you have been watching?

im assuming we are out at that point (unless some of these other teams lose games unexpectedly). We don’t have the resume and big wins. Our big ooc win completely shite the bed this year
You can only play the teams in front of you. Texas beat the bad opponents how a good team should. A 10-2 Texas team gets in. A loss to UGA and an away loss to A&M doesn’t eliminate Texas.

Bama could lose to AU which would knock them out.
Hugh Freeze has the opportunity to do something hilarious. Inadvertently helping Ole Miss make the playoffs.

It's based on the final rankings the committee creates. I assume the OP is talking about how the committee will make those final rankings.

“Badly to LSU “ ? They lost in OT after letting LSU hang around.

Vandy is a road game. That's by no means a give me when for the Vols.

A three point over time loss on the road is losing badly?

So what happens if the Vols do something that Bama couldn’t do? Beat Vandy in Nashville this year?
Pretty good bet that UGA beats Tn, and they lost to Alabama
Edit to say I would prefer Alabama not play in the SEC game. I see conference title games going away in due time

I was going to make a long winded post on this but I agree a lot with this. 4 B1G seems to be close to a lock at this point along with ND, 1 ACC and G5 is 7 spots. The only path for the Big 12 to get two is if BYU wins out until the title game and loses (and even then that may leave them out - too bad Utah couldn’t really cement it to where the Big 12 was down to one spot. Let’s assume the Big 12 only gets the one spot. 4 to SEC. This is where you can see Texas isn’t standing very safe if they drop another game (especially if it is the A&M game). Like you said Missouri really isn’t in the convo in my opinion. I originally thought Georgia could get in with 3 losses but I think it is now apparent a 3 loss team simply isn’t going to fit into the equation. Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia must win out to make the playoff - however there is a good chance all of that could happen. If Texas wins out they are in (same for Tennessee). Assuming Texas were to win out we could be left with 3 of the following 4 for spots all at two losses:
Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss.
Agree with OC that Tennessee and Ole Miss would be left at committees thoughts on who gets the last spot. Texas dropping a second game with a schedule that really just doesn’t impress could be big time trouble. Getting in to a comparison with the other SEC teams doesn’t look great for them and they would rely on brand power and some type of eye test or perception to carry them in.
ND losing a second game essentially equates to an 80-90% chance the SEC will get an additional team.
I see no path for a second ACC team.
B1G not getting those four in would require something pretty shocking - like Indiana dropping last two (losing to Purdue at home seems very unlikely). Penn St dropping an unexpected league game down the stretch could be problematic for them. 2 losses and not a great schedule.
Even though there is a path I believe Big 12 will just get the one spot when it’s all said and done. So most likely the most analysis and breakdown is in the SEC right now with said 5-6 teams jockeying for those 4 spots (could be as low as 3 or as high as 5…)
Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss.

No, this is pretty much it, lol. Just realized it didn’t need its own new thread.

I saw a bunch of OM fans last night talking to Georgia fans saying “I hope you crush Tennessee”
And while I really despise the Vols and that is what my heart would like, doesn’t Ole Miss need Tennessee to win to get Georgia out of the picture completely?
