Normal peon fans can't buy beer at Kroger Field but the "elite" can. In mItch Barnhart's mind beer is evil, but only for certain people.

Should bring back an oaken barrel charred on the inside.

The working group will consist of athletics directors, event management directors and campus security personnel.

This is comical considering our athletics department put out video of our AD telling the cops to let us do it last year.

Saban has spoken.

Saban speaks, the SEC moves quickly.
Saban controls all narratives.

Now there shouldn't be any stupid girls running onto the field getting their phones slightly brushed away out of their hands.

REC STRIKES AGAIN!

Just up the fine from $100k (which is nothing these days) to $1m. Then the schools will take it more seriously. Maybe $2m. They will feel that, and it will be worth it for the schools to spend $1m to prevent field rushing to avoid the $2m fine. I'm just spitballing here.

First offense $500k.
Second offense $1M
Every subsequent offense (with in 5 years) add $1M it.

All I know is ... nothing quite says "the shite stops, and it stops now" quite like the formation of a working group.

Some knucklehead is going to repeat the call for a game to be forfeited if fans rush the field.

If it passes, it will lead directly to teams paying students of other teams to instigate field rushing just to overturn losses.

Nobody's boosters are above such gaming of the system.

There’s no way to stop 70-80-90k people. Waste of time.

Maybe actually do something about the players hitting fans instead of punishing fans

Pretty sure rushing the field has been against the rules for a long time.

That's why Tennessee got slapped with a $100k fine, and why LSU got slapped with a $250k fine.

It's a safety issue and has nothing to do with Burton.

Yes there is. Press charges, arrest people, etc.

Once security and police start taking people down, the rest will clear out like a herd running from a lion.

Especially if you actually tell people that's what will happen if they rush the field, rather than promote it.

Unless you bring in the national guard on the sidelines, there will never be a way to stop a mob from storming the field.

Why do folks keep saying this?

It's not that difficult at all.

You impose huge fines on the member institutions. Not the 100K or even 200k garbage but $2 million for first offenders and double for each repeated offense in a 5 year period.Make repeated PSA's to fans and repeated announcements during the game.Any student caught doing it will face immediate suspension and any season ticket holder caught loses the tickets for the remainder of the season.

All this along along with increased security and perhaps natural barriers surrounding the field and it becomes a non issue at least in the SEC.The BIG schools are a lost cause and storming is almost a weekly event and encouraged by the schools.

Ah good. A bureaucratic committee to discuss, but accomplish nothing.

I’ll predict the outcome… the fine will be increased.

No, but a handful of real cops can if they're on horseback. I've seen it done at the Superdome for big games -- in the 4th, several mounted cops would come out behind the end zones.
