The SEC announced Friday that it has created a working group on event security designed to review and improve strategies to prevent crowd incursions on playing fields and courts. The working group will consist of athletics directors, event management directors and campus security personnel.
quote:

"Current Conference policies need to be reviewed and improved with a focus on addressing field and court incursions by spectators after contests," commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. "The SEC's Working Group on Event Security will focus its efforts on reviewing existing policies, developing new strategies and identifying best practices to enhance crowd management and more effectively address field and court incursions at future SEC athletics events."
quote:

"Providing consistent and appropriate levels of safety and security remains the common goal of SEC member institutions," Sankey said. "Our institutions remain current and vigilant in crowd control best practices and continue to work with local law enforcement to develop effective security protocols at SEC venues and we need to continue the adaptation of conference policies to address emerging realities."
Sankey hates fun
Unless you bring in the national guard on the sidelines, there will never be a way to stop a mob from storming the field.

So let me get this straight, SEC wants booze revenue but thinks it can stop field storming?

I will never understand why SEC cares if people storm the field. Pick something else to champion.

People bitch and moan about players assaulting fans rushing the field and then get mad when the league tries to prevent it. Make your minds up

Remember when UT and UK gave up the Battle of the Beer Barrel, because UK had players die in an alcohol related accident...but then later, both schools thought it would be fine to start selling beer at their stadiums during games?

How are they going to stop thousands of fans? There simply isn't enough man power. This is just lip service.

Yes I remember those kids

Still think no good comes from selling booze with so many packed like sardines and emotions are high. A recipe for disaster

Saban went crying to Sankey because he was getting to much heat for not disciplining his player.

Fields have been stormed for decades and the former never happened until some entitled piece of shite Bama player couldn't handle a loss and bullied someone smaller than him.

This issue wasn't the fan, it was the player acting like a baby.

We're such butthurt losers that we need the National Guard so the scary 19 year old girl rushing the field won't get pimp slapped by our vulnerable SEC D1 athletes.

do you hear yourself baw?

If you think this is something people have only been bitching about for the last month or so, you haven’t been paying attention. The Nebraska player that laid out a Mizzou fan rushing the field caught a lot of shite

I wish the SEC would look to beef up their shitty referees.

Careful with your wording...or they'll drag an Ed Hochuli out there.

Correct. Improved by repealing all rules regarding same.

There is a way to stop it. It seems the people in charge at Alabama have pretty much eliminated it. I’m pretty positive I’ve never seen Bama do it and I’m 41.
