But why are you staying 2 nights...a hotel requirement?
Per you, you live under 3 hours away.

Now is $1,200 worth the headache and the game experience?
Try to keep up. I was making the point that the Ole Miss guy was full of shite for saying that a random SEC game in Oxford was $2,000-$2,500 a weekend when you can get sideline tickets to an SEC game in Oxford for $50, while the premier college football rivalry in the country only costs half of what he said.

And brother... We had to open the South to anybody willing to buy! So it has reached us too.
Why is this so complicated for you to understand? Of course we had to open up the South to the general public, because THEY ARE NOT RENEWABLE!!! They were not going take people from the Tide Pride list for NON-RENEWABLE seats. They can't know for certain what the viisiting team allotment may be going forward, and these seats may be lost to the facilities upgrades. And again, these had been from the VISITING TEAM ALLOTMENT. So how the hell are they supposed to sell them if they don't offer them to the general public???
Pardon my French, but why is that so fricking hard for you to understand???

What the frick does that even have to do with it? My point...which should have been obvious...was that, with me being able to upgrade with only 240 points, you don't have to have a shitload of points or spend a fortune in donations to upgrade your seats.
I ask again...what is so fricking hard about this for you to understand?

Once again...HOW IN THE HELL ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO SELL THEM???? Can you not even grasp the basic reason why those seats were available this year?
What is so hard for you to understand about...
1. THEY ARE SEATS NEVER PREVIOUSLY AVAILABLE BECAUSE THEY WERE PART OF THE VISITORS' ALLOTMENT.
2. THEY CAN'T GO TO TIDE PRIDE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T BE RENEWED...TIDE PRIDE MEMBERS ARE ENTITLED TO ANNUAL RENEWALS.
3. THEY CAN'T BE RENEWED BECAUSE SOME OF THE SEATS WILL BE LOST TO THE RENOVATIONS AND THE VISITORS' ALLOTMENT MAY CHANGE AGAIN.
Again...how in the hell are they supposed to sell them if they don't open them up to the general public?????

Rent a wins in the September heat is one factor.
Chasing the out of state tuition dollar is another (Alabama guilty of this big time). A lot of students simply don't care about their school when they don't grow up a fan.
Costs associated with attendance (gas/food/lodging) on top of school's squeezing every penny they can get out of fans.
This asinine drive to make the college game like the NFL. Stop the piped-in music that we can hear in a hundred other stadia/arenas. How about letting fans hear the bands from the University?

Not full of shite, here is my breakdown for family of 4 living 3 hours away to attend game and spend weekend in Oxford, because I am not driving up and back for something I can watch on tv.
Gas - $80
Tickets @ $50 a piece - $200
Hotel 2 night minimum - $1,200 easy & probably on the low side for a decent hotel...Not one hotel in Oxford allows less than 2 night stay
Concessions at the game - $100
Parking - $25
Meals/Incidentals/Entertainment - $400 (not gonna pack PB&J's to save $$)
All over $2,000 my friend.

My idea:
Every time a team scores, the other team’s cheerleaders have to remove an item of clothing (A&M excluded for obvious reasons).

GrayReb is correct.... taking the fam on the cheap to a game isn’t what I would consider worth the investment of time and coin. The hotel two night minimum that is forced upon fans is complete bs. No one wants to drive an hour to say, Montgomery or Bham to or after a game just to stay in a Marriott, people want the full experience. The tailgating companies being forced upon anyone wanting to experience campus is just another money grab by universities as they all receive a percentage of the proceeds via contractual agreement. Fans being pushed 1.5 miles out from the stadium to tailgate is just plain wrong. Oh, by the way paying 65-85 $ to see AU play northwest Louisiana state technical school isn’t what I’d consider worth wild. The piped in music sucks... The huge TV in the south end zone of Jordan hare is ridiculous, and the contract CGM has in hand due to an inept and recently fired university President is the prime result of a BOT that cowers to political pressure. I long for a return to the 90’s and early 00’s when football wasn’t a $ grab and worth attending. Btw, as a freshman in 99 I paid less than $30 for an entire season of student tickets.

Simple. Add another cross-division conference game in place of the FCS game. And more night games instead of 11:30 and 2:30 during Sep and early Oct.

A) over exposure from TV results in playing games at 11am, 2 pm in the South, just stupid..
B) Ticket prices, it's a $200 event now to bring your wife.
C) Paul Finebaum sucks- self explanatory
D) lack of traffic infrastructure, these roads were never built to move 100-200k people around before and after games.
You have address all of these, C is the easiest though.

I have had LSU Football season tickets since 1976. My wife and I still love being at the games, but we split our season tickets with someone else for the first time. He gets the Florida game plus GA Southern, Utah State, and NW State. We get Auburn, Arkansas, and A&M. Getting to and from the games is such a cluster, I am glad to be going to less games but still getting to sit in our great seats. We will go to the @Texas game and the @alabama game as well.
1. Horrible traffic
2. crappy parking
3. tickets $ too high and now Trump says we cannot deduct our contributions.

Idk about the rest of the SEC, but games aren’t very interesting when you win by 40 and start pulling starters at the half. Too many games just aren’t competitive anymore, Alabama still wants top dollar for tickets, and just now refused to sell beer. No thanks.

But why are you staying 2 nights...a hotel requirement?
Yes hotel requirements!
5hrs on Friday to campus and back home. The 5 more hours in car on Saturday/game day. With kids! Nobody I know really enjoyed spending 10 hrs in car with kids 6 times a year for a football team that you know will not compete for championship. Rather competing for a meaningless bowl game. Rah Rah!
No Thanks!

Vanderbilt could recruit with anyone if not for the restraints of the administration. There are so many positives the University has. Only a leftist mindset could squander that advantage.

Can people tell me WHERE in the world are you staying that 2 nights at a hotel are $1K+???
When I moved from CT back to Ga., a good hotel in DC was only $300.

I’ve said it for years, but it boils down to one simple concept: The value of the product is not worth the time and money invested.
I gave up my season tickets this year. It won’t hinder me in the slightest in my ability to attend a game, should I want to go, though.
College Football has a massive problem. They ask us to shell out NFL dollars for an experience that is the same cost, twice the hassle, and not as good.
Here is a breakdown;
(1) Generally, no one lives in college towns: that means, ~90% of fans travel over 60 minutes to campus for a game. I’d be willing to be it’s over 2 hours for ~50% of the fans in attendance. This means: gas money, likely hotels, and crazy parking in a town without major city infrastructure or mass transit. It’s not “old timey,” it’s a hassle.
(2) The schedules SUCK: I enjoy beating the crap out of everyone in our conference. In general, we are on a somewhat even playing field with revenue share and awesome facilities. I however, loathe our OOC cupcake games. I won’t pay for them. Won’t go if they’re free to me. 3 hours to and from Tuscaloosa to watch a game with an inevitable outcome is a useless waste of time and money.
(3) The hallowed notion that we love college over NFL because, “they play for passion and love of the game,” has always been laughable - is gone: Every major college has a room dedicated to players who have made the NFL. It’s the most successful program’s biggest selling point. Kids don’t go to school because of “in-State pride,” or “love of alma mater,” they go for the same reason we all go — to put us in the best place to get paid in our profession of choice. This, and the overwhelming amounts of under the table cash thrown around totally obliterates this mirage.
(4) Millennials (proudly, I might say) have other interests: When I was on campus in Tuscaloosa, Alabama football was a massive part of my life. It was the biggest thing in town. But, like many of my counterparts who went to Tuscaloosa, we left the state and other things became more important, and other fun things popped up.
The U of Alabama is roughly ~70% out-of-state now. That means, after 4 years, most move out of Alabama. Alabama is an insulated place where college football is WAY more important than it is in a vast amount of other places. Likely is a combination of its rich history in programs, and not much else to do, but it is what it is. If most of your alums are moving to places where you can watch the Tide on TV, then go about your merry way to doing other fun stuff right after, why invest a weekend to come back on a regular basis?
(5) Millennials/Gen Z is more drawn to other sports/experiences: Look - college is a blast. I think everyone will always love their team. In recent years though, I’ve personally had more fun at bars in Atlanta/NYC/LA connecting with alumni than I have had going to sit on uncomfortable, outdated metal benches.
With all games on TV now, why go but more than 1-2 times a year if you’re not close?
To go to a Falcons game, it takes roughly 30 minutes, the parking and other transit options are vast, the game is rigidly timed in the 1 and 4:15 start slots, the stadiums are a bazillion Times nicer/better and the games are almost ALWAYS competitive.
My LSU/Saints fans counterparts living in NOLA share the same sentiment. At some point, we chose bang for buck, and there is nothing wrong with that.
