congress needs to step in and break up the bcs and force a playoff. The SEC is one of if not the biggest benefactors of the bcs.
While we are at it, lets get rid of conference officiating and use NCAA officials instead.
The corruption in the sec and college football is disgusting.
Oh, and what ever happened to "the money was to much, so i am going to auburn"? That is the one piece that has been sweped under a very big rug.

"The facts in this case, as we understand them, are that the student-athlete's father, without knowledge of the student-athlete, solicited improper payments [which were rejected] from an institution the young man did not attend, and that the institution where the young man is enrolled was not involved," Bloom told the AP in an e-mail.

The SEC consistently votes for a playoff along with the ACC and the Big East. The Big-10, Pac-10, and Big-12 consistently vote against it.

I understand, but you and i both know that the sec bends and breaks to get 2 bcs games and a national champion.

If anything else is revealed in this case which merits further action against Auburn*, then Slive and Emmert need to get shitcanned immediately.
* - not likely, since the NCAA is "All In"

True. I just don't see this leading to playoffs.

Rogers Redding is the worst of the whole bunch along with Marc Curles, Jim Allison, Penn Wagers, Mike Slive and the Golden Flake Gang

Nice work ignoring the point. Thread topic is Slive. Slive ignored his own bylaw (which makes no distinction between player and family) by enforcing a standard for "agrees to receive" that is nonsense.

Considering that Cam has acknowledged giving his father full authority to chose his school for him, please tell me how in this case the sins of the father are not the sins of the son. Not to mention, by rejecting the solicitation, MSU was automatically competitively at a disadvantage in recruiting. The whole spirit of that SEC bylaw to maintain a fair playing field. There is simply no way that once that FACT was agreed upon that Cam Newton should have been eligible ANYWHERE in the SEC. frick Slive indeed.

Renardo Sidney is still suspended after a full year plus several more games this season for something his parent did while he was in 10th grade. I never saw Slive take up for him. This whole damn thing just stinks of greed and corrupt politics. Its rediculous how Slive gets away with what he gets away with. If what goes around comes around then Slive will go through hell. Cheating fricker!!!!!!!

I'm just curious. Who holds Mike Slive accountable for his actions or is he at the top and can do whatever he pleases to do?

Plain and simple, Slive (and the NCAA) placed money ahead of integrity. No one believes Cecil was shaking down schools and Cam wasn't aware of Dad's actions. Slive and the NCAA didn't want to know the truth and manipulated the rules to fit the outcome they desired.

Slive sucks and has always sucked. The SEC is crooked and has always been crooked. Life goes on.

Slive gets a bonus if an and SEC team makes it to the bcs championship game, what is the motivation for that? how can a commissioner influence a team to be in the championship??
I understand if a coach makes it he gets a bonus but the commissioner wtf..

College football is a farce and only clowns think there was any integrity to be lost. Student athletes.
