But we have been told Mullen didn’t recruit.

Mullen recruited the defensive front seven extremely well, which is an area MS and Alabama both produce good talent. He struggled more recruiting the offensive side of the ball, particularly offensive line and wide receiver, which is kind of a mystery for an offensive coach.

This is why you use the composite score.

Maine State is full of 2*, especially on defense

MSU would be a favorite to win at least 9 and maybe 10 of those games if oddsmakers had to make lines today.

This guy would lose a casino a lot of money if he was setting the lines

This guy is more delusional than LSU fans who thought Coach YawYaw was the answer

State will curb stomp Auburn and their defense could possibly embarrass them
I won't take the trouble to post you scores and stats from the last two contests between these two teams, because I'm sure you considered them in your expert analysis. And I'm fully aware that previous seasons aren't always an indicator of future games.

But I am curious - on what factors are you basing your prediction, other than wishful thinking on your part?

that is 23 players on the defensive side of the ball that were ranked four stars or higher by one service or another

After pulling all rankings from the 247 Composite rankings instead of cherry picking my ratings from different sources to enhance the argument (like you did), here is what these guys' rankings actually are.

Jeffrey Simmons - 5*
Jamal Peters - 4*
Leo Lewis - 4*
Willie Gay - 4*
Fletcher Adams - 4*
Kobe Jones - 4*
Marquiss Spencer - 4*
Chauncey Rivers - 4* (went to UGA, didn't make it and went JUCO, and now is at State)
Gerri Green - 4*
Marcus Murphey - 3*
Jaden Crumedy - 4* (hasn't played a down of football in college and was barely a 4*
Fabien Lovett - 3*
Tim Washington - 3*
Erroll Thompson - 3*
CJ Morgan Walker - 3*
Korey Charles - 3*
Jonathan Abram - 3* prospect out of high school and JUCO
Lee Autry - borderline 3* JUCO prospect and outside top 1000 overall 3* out of HS
Brian Cole - 4* out of HS, but 3* out of JUCO and transferred from Mich.
Tyler Williams - 3* and ranked 817, not even close to being a 4*
Aaron Odom - 3* and ranked 591, not that close to being a 4*
Aaron Brule - 3*
Tyler Dunning - 3*

So, out of the 23 players you listed as 4*, only 10 are actually 4* or above, 11 if you count Brian Cole, with some of the players not being remotely close to being a 4*. That's at the most 47.8% of the guys you listed.

Argue metrics and different recruiting sites all you want - 247 Composite is probably the most unbiased and widely accepted recruiting site. Also, it always seems like Rivals gives out way more 4* ratings than other sites.

Can you expect anything else from a Mississippi State Fan?

I figured this would be the case, I just didn't want to spend my time proving something I already knew

All he stated was that those players were ranked 4* by one service or another

The “Mullen is average at recruiting” line isn’t fake news. In the 9 years that he was here, his best class was ranked #18. Moorhead will top Mullen’s highest ranked recruiting class in year 1. Let that sink in.

Good question. I'm not sold on next year's Auburn team, although I believe y'all will have a potent defense. If State's coaching transition goes well, I believe that they'll be a sack of hell (barring mass injuries)...especially in Starkville...Y'all got a lot of holes to fill.

Using different services takes the validity away from your argument that they were ranked the same way.

Not really.

There will always be 1 service who ranks a recruit higher than the other 2. This isn't right. Nor wrong. Just a reality.

Is a composite 4 star a more selective criteria? Absolutely. But sometimes, 1 site is more accurate on a given recruit. So the composite isn't any more valid than his point (that talent is on the defense).
