I don't care what blabbering nonsense a coach or player has to say during or immediately after the game. It isn't going to be well thought out, so why do it?
I agree completely but somebody has to pay the outrageous salaries of these coaches....and TV does that. I suspect if you offered to do away with the BS and cut their salaries by $100 a year they'd probably whine like a smashed kitty. I would love to see a return to the Jefferson Pilot days but that won't pay the bills today.....

You don’t get to agree to do something, which the other side relies upon, and then get to decide last minute, yeah I’m not going to do it because I don’t feel like it. That’s complete bullshite.
And as an aside, how in the hell is a sideline reporter supposed to make these interesting when there is not a coach out there who will answer anything resembling a tough question. That’s why they are so useless; because 99% of all coaches are twats who can’t handle being questioned about a decision.

The broadcasters have basically come out and said this was on us..they kept him waiting and kept him from doing his job at halftime... they kept him waiting again after the game. At what point is the obligation broken?

Kinda proving my point on these interviews need to be scrapped. Coaches don't want to do them, interviewers can't get good content...so.. why are we doing it? Probably to justify the existence of people like Rowe.

The point that the interviews are essentially useless is apparent. The point you’re having trouble with is that when you agree to do something you should do it. And if he’s pissed that they held him up at halftime; then don’t stop at all and intentionally embarrass the sideline reporter by stopping for a second mumble some hook em horns crap and run off. Class doesn’t cost anything.

Not stopping would have been more awkward. They would have cut to Holly pushing her way past people who really don't give a shite to get her useless sound bite with Sark... that said I do see you're point. The interview may be pointless, the broadcast may have pissed you off already, but yes it wasn't the classiest move. Holly rolling her eyes was also amateur hour as it would have been easy to smile say "man coach is fired up" or something like that and transition out.
So no, I won't defend what Sark did as 100% fine, but the practice of forcing coaches to take their time on these things has got to be looked at.

I don’t disagree. Nothing about it was done well. And again my arguments are not in anyway meant to justify or advocate for sideline interviews. The only coach interviews that were ever worth watching were the ones with Popovich. And that was because they were hilariously awkward.

I'm sure with all the pointless publicity this is getting from all the middle aged women ( or those that act like they are), ESPN/ABC is loving how he handled the interview. TV loves a personality.

Sarkisian makes $11M per year salary plus bonuses.
He is allegedly bringing in $5M in endorsement deals/perks.
Spare me the sympathy for acting like a jackass for a 30 second job required sound bite.
He deserves any and all hate directed his way. There is zero excuse for a leader of men and high profile figure of the university to behave that way.

not a good luck from sark. i can tell after spending 10 years on the sideline at a big 12 school, these sideline reporters have no business on the field. they add nothing to the game. i hear contractual responsibility. i was talking to a friend of mine, he is a hc at an sec school, says otherwise. the only reporter i encountered that was remotely personable was maria taylor. erin andrew’s had the best looking butt around 2012 i have seen.

I’m sorry but I see no problem here. Dude was excited and wanted to go celebrate. Let’s be honest here. Sark usually loses games like that. To be fair most coaches probably lose in that situation but Sark would usually drop a game like that since he has been at Texas. He got excited and the emotion of the moment got too him. Was it rude? Yes but he has not had that many big wins while at Texas and certainly not any where his team came back 20 down against the number 1 ranked team in the country in the 4th qtr. He is not the first human to be overcome by the moment and let the moment get the best of him. He will not be the last human to do it either.
It’s not like Sark didn’t have to go sit in a room and get peppered by different members of the media later that night. So Holly Rowe missed her big moment! Who cares because it’s not like she was going to challenge him and ask hard questions. If Sark had done the interview with her then she would have asked fluff or obvious questions that Sark would have answered with the typical coach speak while Holly stood there smiling and nodding while holding the microphone. That’s not exactly hard hitting tv. I could care less if Holly Rowe missed a couple of minutes of screen time to ask completely irrelevant questions and get completely irrelevant answers.
