So what would happen for NCAA-sponsored events?
Those programs rule football and basketball, but we see programs from smaller schools do well all the time in sports like baseball, etc.
Do things like T&F and other non-revenue sports cease to exist?

The best conceptual idea I've heard is something akin to relegation and promotion used in European soccer. The details are difficult and it's not apples to apples, but it's worth exploring.

Rutgers is fine to exist, but they should in no way be a in a top division... not now, and certainly not in a future slimmed down elite division.
The Big10 extending an invitation to Rutgers has got to be the biggest expansion blunder in college sports history. They've been absolutely terrible on the field and they have virtually zero draw for TV.
Mississippi State is a Top 30 TV draw nationally speaking, as are all SEC teams minus Vandy. I can see an argument for kicking out Vandy but since they've been pretty decent the last couple of years coupled with the money they've poured into their stadium along with the fact that Nashville continues to grow, I think they should get the jump up.

Sankey is just a spasm of a dying regime. The BIG is way too smart to leave the rest of the country behind and go with the SEC. In a few years Sankey will be a meme for this type of stupid stuff.
There is no way the BIG goes into business with a guy like Sankey. I could see them baiting Sankey to do it and then essentially leave the SEC by themselves.

He’s just saying it to help with other negotiations. If he really were to make a move he would not be talking about it.

don't be surprised if the SEC itself expands to 40 teams and then breaks away so they have control of the whole damn thing

Rutgers appeal now is the same it was when they left the Big East: NYC media market although there are about 1,000 things more important to your average NYC area resident than Rutgers football.
I'm sure Mississippi St. playing Oklahoma draws in a much higher percentage of Mississippi and southeast residents eyeballs than Rutgers playing UCLA in NYC.
