Not sure how accurate they will be considering Oklahoma and Texas didn't play in the SEC.
Does anyone think Oklahoma is going to the playoffs 4 times if it's in the SEC? Or does it more likely meet those same teams they lost to in the playoffs 3 out of 4 times in conference and get left out?
Also, it's pretty obvious why you choose 4 years.

Only if they expand the play off for 12, then you could make a case for them being a frequent visitor.

No way in hell.
They had the easiest path to the playoff besides maybe Oregon/USC/Clemson

Regardless, can you blame us from distancing ourselves from Charlie Strong as much as humanly possible?

No outlier there at all.

Agreed. It is hard to accurately predict how good teams are that don’t play each other. Even then, teams have good days and bad days.. Players get hurt.. Players get healthy.. The weather changes.. it is all speculation.
Texas lost by 7 to LSU in 2019 at Home
A&M lost by 43 to LSU in 2019 at LSU.
Does that mean Texas is better than A&M?
No it doesn’t. There is no way to accurately know.
These ratings are only speculative.. but they are probably in the right ballpark. That is why I used tiers. My thought process is that teams in the same tier are about equal. Either team could win on a given day. It’s also possible for a Tier 4 team to beat a Tier 1 or 2 team, but not likely.
I also looked at how the tiers changed based on the 2, 3 or 4 year average. Only the ones I listed with an * or ** would change based on that.

I actually started the process because I was analyzing Tom Herman’s record and losses. Based on the Sagarin Ratings, perhaps Tom deserved some more time. 27-17-15-10 is definitely in the right direction, especially since we lost 3 games in 2020 by a combined 5 points at the end of regulation.

2017 OU gave Georgia all they could handle pushing them to 2OT. That same Georgia team was whipping Alabama until Tua came in..
2019 LSU and 2020 Alabama were just that much better than everyone else..

Agreed. These same rankings next year would have Florida in Tier 1 if they finish this year in the Top 10.
One other thing I should have said..
Gus was pretty damn good at Auburn.
Gus beat Saban 3 times.
Auburn had an average rating of 11 over the last 4 years.

List is shite, because Texas and Oklahoma didn't play SEC schedules.
You're automatically tier 4, junior.

Not trying to say anything one way or the other here, but the better teams each year are put in better TV spots for ratings. If you consistently suck you get buried on SECN+
Look no further than UKs Sag ratings. Started out with that mediocre season as Stoops finally started culling rmthe Joker roster and had full control and then we start playing well and lo and behold our Sag number doubles.
My point is these numbers don't really mean anything other than to say better teams are going to get more eyeballs. That's common sense. Pull the Sag numbers from when Franklin was at Vandy, I bet they jump significantly.

In theory, they should jump because Vanderbilt was a lot better with Franklin.. correct?
This is simply a computer rankings algorithm that measures teams against each other.. It doesn’t have anything to do with how much a team is or isn’t on TV..

OU goes to the playoff every year but 19 in the sec. they go over UGA even as SEC no 2

Playing the same schedule.. I agree. OU was the #2 seed. Where it gets tricky is if you had to play Alabama or Georgia in the regular season and/or SEC Title game. There is no way to know that answer for sure either way. As others have said, playing Oklahoma with 1 week to prepare is very different than playing them with 3 weeks to prepare.
It will be interesting to see what happens either way. Texas needs to get better in a hurry, or we will get our shite kicked in.

Our lowest rated season appears to be the year we had the best UGA team I’ve seen since I’ve been alive versus three other teams that were on par with the highs of the Richt era. Makes sense.

quote:Yeah. He was there... like 09-11? I get how it works, I'm just saying the traditional brands pretty well always have a steady draw but teams like Vandy in my example I'm sure see a huge uptick those seasons.

I'd like to see what States rating was with Dak that year for another example.
