A lot of UGA fans worried that UT and UF may get their act together.

His opening at media days was beyond painful...cannot wait for his press conferences this fall.

Yes, so if its such a big deal why is there only one sentence about it

It doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Will it be in the future? who knows

Florida---Dan Mullen (Proven winner)

I keep seeing things similar to this. What has Dan Mullen won exactly? Any NY6 bowl wins (I see they went to the orange bowl in '14 and lost)? Pre-playoff major bowls under his belt?

Literally the only thing the dude has won is 2 games against an LSU that everyone on this board unanimously agrees is down.

Fired in 3 years. Never been more sure of anything. He's too stupid to be the HC at a SEC program

Wasn't phil just a stop gap or is he really in charge?

Phil won the power struggle between him and the Haslams. He is in control for now, but he better have success.

I've actually liked what I've heard from Pruitt so far. I don't think he's "the next Kirby", but I don't think he'll be as bad as your last few coaches either.

Honestly, and I know this won't be popular, I think ya'll would have been best off with the original choice - Schiano.

I think there's a zero percent chance he had anything to do with, or any knowledge of, the Penn State stuff. And he's actually a good coach. But, hey, you guys got what you wanted, I guess. Pruitt's not a bad back-up plan, IMO.

A vol media member told me the day Jeremy was hired “this will end with him getting fired and Phil taking over as coach”

"Publicly, however, Fulmer has been very adamant about letting Pruitt do things his way. But he’s also pointed out that he’s been there before and he might know some things that Pruitt doesn’t know. It would be silly for Fulmer to not offer Pruitt advice. Whether Pruitt takes it or not is up to him."

Yeah. This is going to work out great.

Your best bet would have been Mike Leach, and he agreed to terms with the AD that Phil Fulmer stabbed in the back.

Does anyone think it's possible that phil could try to manipulate his way back into the head coach position (again)? I mean, Pruitt is probably the perfect rube for his master plan.

That's one of the things Pruitt tried to do at UGA, so the irony would be incredible.

They used the Penn State ties as an excuse. The real reason they got all pissy about it is because those idiots actually thought they had a shot to get Gruden.

The longer we get away from the hiring process the more I like the Pruitt hire.

Yes Greg Schiano is a better coach on paper, but he is a retread with a known ceiling. He is the type of hire that UK hires to be respectable.

But Tenn needs more than respectable. The fans demand success of the old days, and more than any SEC program they are in a terrible position to get there:

-Have to play Bama every year

-Have to play teams with MUCH better in-state recruits for the East title (UGA, UF)

-Have to stand out as a brand when no teenagers remember their glory years

Given all of that they can't play it safe. Either they get a guy who is a completely gamble that can maybe take them to the top, or they shouldn't hire anyone.

The middle ground "we are an ok program" won't work for them. Its either the top of the mountain or bust.

That means there will be a lot of busts in their future, and Jeremy might be one. But that program doesn't have any choice but to swing for the fences as long as Nick is around.

I don't know anything about the guy other than he agreed to terms with Mike Leach, who is the only coach that agreed to take the job that would much concern most opponents. Instead, Phil Fulmer stabbed the guy in the back, and then hired a guy that has never been a head coach, not even in high school.
