I completely agree with Saban's overall point and philosophy but he shouldn't have used Ronnie as an example IMHO
Agreed ..
kind of hard to keep the name out of it when we only had one player drafted in the third .

But he could have made seven times that if he worked himself to a first round pick

What was the point of calling out RH?

So, your saying that would be a lot of money for a kid making a meager stipend playing college ball?

Maybe, but hat doesn't make Ronnie wrong.

Most of the Bama fans in this thread alone are saying Harrison should have listened to Saban. That’s blaming him. Harrison told you guys to go frick yourself, essentially.
I agree with Harrison.
I agree with Harrison.

That might be the first time I've seen a former Bama player under Saban say something derogatory towards him.
Saban didn't cut the guy down, and he didn't say anything that wasn't true. He actually implied that he thinks that he is better than what he is making. The horror.
Ronnie sounds like a sensitive bitch. "Keep my name out of your mouth..." He actually didn't say your name Ronnie.

Saban taught Ronnie to be proactive

Well, I for one am not blaming Harrison for the decision he made. I'm simply agreeing with the perfectly valid points Saban brought up when discussing the topic. I think he could have been a bit more tactful by not airing this in public, but Saban has never been known for his tact.

Saban could murder someone and you Gumps would support him.
It’s not surprising that you agree with Saban here too.

I love how Ronnie capitalized "Go Pro" in his tweet

Or he could have suffered a catastrophic injury and have his draft stock drop dramatically like Eddie Jackson did.

So you are comparing murder to Saban pointing out something that is undeniably valid?

Saban cares about Saban...like most all coaches. They want to keep kids around for their own glory
Like EVERY coach. Theres not a single coach in college football that cares more about the players making money than they do about their own paychecks. Some people like to act as if their coaches would trade a paycheck just to be there for their players, but they're all the same.
I'm not saying coaches dont care about their players at all. But, at the end of the day, its still a job and a business. It's part of his job to get players that give him a better chance at winning. And that includes keeping players around as long as possible.
Sabans statememt, while probably not well phrased, is a valid one. Nobody is blaming RH for going early, but it may or may not have cost him more money. Theres no way of knowing for sure, but its certainly a possibility that it couldve happend just as easily as it couldnt have.

You would label me a gump if you ever met me, but this gump doesn't agree with this particular sentiment from Lord Saban.
