Saban: "Junior where are your cleats?"
Seau: "Buddy buddy. If I put on cleats, I'm going to go too hard. I'm going to hurt somebody. Somebody's going to hurt me. We don't need that."
Ronnie Brown: Then he kept on walking.

None of those NFL guys respected Saban

Crazy seeing how Ronnie Brown, who is a former NFL player under Nick Saban, stated the opposite in the very video that was posted.

Do those of you that love to rag on Saban’s time in Miami, and his eventual exit, completely forget he spent a decade in the NFL before that stint? Do you honestly believe he just had no clue how things worked in the NFL?

It was 6 years, not really a decade. And to be fair, the NFL was probably a lot different in the late 80's, early 90's, than in the mid 2000's.
In 1991, the average player salary was $422k, in 2005 it was like $2M. The current free agency model was also introduced in 1993. Saban left the Browns in 1994.
Saban also referred to the four years with the Browns as "the worst of his life."

Having Brees around very clearly would have helped Saban out but Saban was out of his element in the NFL with or without him. Saban needed to be in college to mold kids. Saban does a lot of preaching. Vets do not want to hear a bunch of preaching.

Saban presents it that way, but many people see him as way more involved in that decision than he lets on.
Brees:
quote:
“And at the end of the day, Nick Saban looked me in the eye and said, ‘You know, our doctors think you have a 25 percent chance of ever coming back and playing again.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, OK, I know what they say, but what do you think?’ He’s like, ‘I got to believe what the doctors are telling me. But we still want you, but it’s just letting you know kind of what’s been said.’
Jason Garrett:
quote:
“I think it was really close,” Garrett said about Brees’ decision. “You know, we went to New Orleans on Wayne Huizenga’s plane, and he and his wife came back with us. We had an amazing dinner. It’s easy to say now, but we were all in on Drew Brees, obviously. And ultimately it came down to a medical decision where they said he had a 75 percent tear of his rotator cuff and he wanted X number of dollars guaranteed. And, you know, I’ll never forget: ‘We’re not going to do that.’” That was Saban’s final word, Garrett said.
quote:
What’s also interesting on that front is to take a look at some of Brees’ previous comments on this. In his 2010 book with Chris Fabry, Coming Back Stronger, Brees discusses the exact timeline, saying he was leaning towards New Orleans, but told Condon he had to call Saban first to evaluate Saban’s commitment to him.
Brees’ recollection of that call has Saban still very interested in signing him, but at a lower number than he wanted given the medical concerns. And Saban’s lack of affirmative response to Brees’ question about belief in him firmly convinced Brees to go to the Saints instead, which he says he told Saban immediately.

Like Jason Taylor? Who credits Saban for revitalizing his career?

NS was an assistant a long time in the NFL. I am pretty sure he knew how to run practice. He just had a spoiled POS who wanted to go lazy.

I love the Story where Channing Crowder brought in a stripper to dance for Saban just for Saban to go robotic and awkwardly run out of the locker room while the whole
locker room laughed at their HC

The Dolphins’ medical staff vetoed signing Brees in favor of Daunte Culpepper.
