Reggie Ragland was a high 4 star, next rolando kind of LB out of high school. he had a total of 25 tackles in his first 2 years (rueben has 32 so far). ragland has 86 and counting this year, and is one of the best linebackers in the country. it takes a while for some and then it clicks. When it clicks for Rueben, offenses around the sec better pucker up those cornholes

Even Ragland as good as he is still made mistakes this year! Against us Saban called a time out seeing impending disaster on a certain play where he lined up and Wallace had looked that way when Saban called the TO and was going ballistic! Sec defenses are complex and unfortunately high schools just don't prepare certain defensive positions like LB for the college game. Foster is going to be a BEAST but he will have to completely know what he is doing and doing it at full speed o boot.
Now if he played in Tennessee's defense (designed on Barry switzers Dallas cowboy Chinese fire drill defense) he would be fine to play now lol

Foster started at LB the opening game vs West Virginia when DePriest was suspended. He was lost for most of the game and played on his heels. As has been stated, he has been a monster on ST and seems to enjoy the role.

I'm a doctor and I got a headache when someone showed me some pages from the Saban 3-4 playbook.
So when the offense lines up initially with 1 TE and 1 back it is 11 personnel and everybody on the field has certain responsibilities. If the TE flexes out wide, thing change. Then if slot WR motions, things change again. It is systematic and I can see why guys struggle to get it all down pat.
Foster hits so hard, but he hurts himself sticking his head out.
All that said, I don't think he is a long term answer for Bama at LB. They recruit 5 stars every year. Dillon Lee does not get tons of snaps either. He would start for many teams.

I think you may have finally solved the recruiting riddle! Now that you point it out, I think it WOULD be easier for good players to get on the field if they went to teams that had less talent.
Sooner or later, Foster will start, or die trying.

Foster will get his chance, great athletic ability. Not very smart (yes we wanted him). Alabama does a great job recruiting and have stock piled talent. At every school some 4 and 5 stars never produce as anticipated. Foster may fit in that category.

Bad thread gets BOOM response and you are mad and deflecting. You go TT.

Lee is predicted to be the starter next year. He started in the LSU game early, but got punked.

"History will show that the flip of Rueben Foster to Auburn will go down as the single-most important event in changing the perception of the little/big brother roles in college football in the state of Alabama. Mainly because of what this manchild beast will do inside Jordan-Hare Stadium and the publicity that has surrounded the flip (press conference, tattoo, etc.). Not to mention the laundry list of fellow defensive recruits that are salivating at a chance to play with this wrecking ball on the field. This guy's magnetism and mentality are no different that Cam's. Both are once in a generation players and we'll have had them in Orange in Blue in a span of four years. I've never seen a time in which truly informed Alabama fans, not the toothleess Wal-Mart Muldykes, have been in such anxiety and agony over the direction of the Auburn Football program. I love every second of it, and they see what's happening and can't do anything about it. When you treat your players as family members and they play for you out of respect and admiration, things like 28-27 happen. When you have players that fear their coach, see rampant gray-shirting, bogus medical departures and wonder if they will have their scholarship the following year, things like a 24-0 complete meltdown implosion against your hated rival happen. It all starts at the top and CGC will go down as a legendary coach in college football history, not just Auburn history, Book It. I tell all of the Bammers without hesitation that CGC will win more national championships at Auburn than Satan will at UTea. If you hook me up to a polygraph while saying it, I would pass because that's how much I believe it to be true. The perception of Auburn Football in-state and on a national level is changing. September 1st is about to open the country's eyes as to what tenacious Auburn football is all about, and I can't wait to watch the look on little dabo's face. These are great times to be an Auburn Tiger. A dynasty is in the making, and if you don't see it, you don't have a clue. War Damn Chizik and War Damn Eagle."

Good for him. It is a tough transition even for a talented HS FB player.

Based on the fact that he played a ton against West Virginia, and Depriest was suspended against West Virginia, and after Depriest came back, he didn't get to play as much, it can reasonably be deduced that he is Depriest's backup. Depriest is a senior. Reuben is a sophomore. It can reasonably be deduced that he will play a lot next year, very probably as a starter.
This is all provided that he doesn't kill himself on a kickoff coverage during a postseason game.
It should be added that Foster would be playing at AU if the Rimington Award winner weren't a drunk and a bigot.
