Mostly the difference between LSU playing a more difficult schedule each year than Bama. Playing Florida vs Bama and Tennessee

I cannot help but think Penn State and Michigan being a bit overrated helped out with that.

The thread is about wins over FINAL AP poll teams.

We have beaten more than 1 team who was top 10 at the time.

The problem with these stats is when a top 10 team loses to a Kentucky, OM, State, etc it usually eliminates them from the top 10. Unless it was a fluke upset and they win the rest of their games which is very rare.

It took me a minute to remember who the one win was, and that's because it's been forever ago. Florida in 2000. Very fun day, the infamous 3rd and 57 game. It was super hot but well worth it.

That 2000 State team... ugh. They beat both division winners (Florida and Auburn) and somehow still managed to lose four games and finish 4th in the division. If I'm not mistaken they controlled their own destiny to win the West going into the last two games and then proceeded to blow double digit leads to Arkansas (who was not good) and Ole Miss.

Might just be me but I'll cry myself to sleep on all of my teams NCs instead.

That’s not really true though. Looking at the numbers posted in the OP, LSU only passed Alabama in these type matchups in the past two seasons. LSU has 5 such and Alabama 1 in 2019. This constant mantra that Alabama never plays anyone, doesn’t really bare out when looking at a final AP Top Ten.

Looking further at the numbers, it becomes clear that Alabama is routinely in the Top Ten when facing Arkansas, Tennessee, Auburn, and LSU. Florida is the only other program with more than 45 of these type matchups that doesn’t face Alabama every season.

If you lose to Kentucky, OM, or State and couple that with another loss or two, you generally shouldn’t be considered one of the 10 best teams in college football for that season.

lsu fans have to continually remind the knuckledraggers on the rant that lsu was 13th all time in wins BEFORE saban got to lsu.

I mean they could lose 25 years straight to lsu and still have a winning record over them
name the program that doesn't have some sort of losing streak like that in their history. pretty much everyone does so you can stop singling out lsu like there's some gotcha

they play in the same division of the same conference turd. they both can't win it every year.

also, bama is 1-3 in their last 4 games against ranked teams. whoa.

Bama has owned LSU for a hundred years and always will. Bryant was 16-3, Stallings was 6-1 and Saban is 10-4 vs the bengal tigahs. One miracle year and a 5-point win after an 0-8 streak doesn’t change that. Back to 8-5 for you.

Who had only four 10-win seasons prior to Saban's arrival in 2000. Since that time, that number has almost been tripled. While 13th sounds good on paper, it ceases being THAT impressive when you consider just how few teams have actually broken out from the pack of the way-too-many Division I football teams.

Damn, it just occured to me that the AP Poll either ceased to be relevant in 1998 or 2003, depending on who you believe on tRANT.

Fantastic troll!
