Reality check for expelling LSU from the SEC...be careful what you ask for.

Here's just a little Google research on the monetary implications:
The LSU brand is valued between $1.3 billion and $1.5 billion, anchoring it firmly as a top-five asset in the Southeastern Conference and a top-10 brand nationally.
1. The Financial Engine of the Conference Record Profits:
During the 2025 fiscal year, the LSU athletic department generated a staggering $223.4 million in total revenue.Football Dominance: LSU Football acts as the primary rainmaker, posting a record $66.8 million net profit (off $117.5 million in standalone football revenue). This massive cash flow heavily subsidizes the rest of the conference's revenue pool and lower-earning institutional sports.
2. Premium Media Inventory for ESPNHigh-Value Broadcasts:
LSU is one of a handful of select "needle-movers" that allows the SEC to command its $3 billion tier-one contract with ESPN.Viewer Draw: The program consistently fills premier broadcast windows (like the 3:30 PM and Saturday prime-time slots on ABC). Removing a brand like LSU would immediately trigger contract "composition clauses," allowing networks to reduce their payout to the SEC due to a loss of marquee game inventory.
3. Championship Cross-Sport EquityMulti-Sport Success:
Unlike schools that rely entirely on football, LSU draws immense brand value from winning national championships across football, baseball, women's basketball, and gymnastics. This comprehensive success drives massive merchandise sales, high digital viewership, and consistent postseason revenue shares from NCAA tournaments and bowl games back into the SEC ecosystem.
This multi-billion dollar valuation explains why the SEC's current threat to expel LSU over roster-eligibility disputes carries such seismic financial weight for both sides.
Money talks...no matter who has an axe to grind with LSU.

Sankey and the other member schools don’t care

The addition of Texas and Oklahoma greatly diminishes the individual value of any one institution as it relates to the SEC’s media value.
Ask your Google machine how much of LSU’s revenue is generated from its membership in the SEC.

I think the action of even bringing this up is going to result in Sankey's eventual ouster.

“The SEC won’t vote to kick LSU out”
It all keeps happening

The world does not revolve around LSU. That mind set is what put you in this position.

SEC boots LSU, adds Miami/UNC/Duke
Miami>LSU historically and presently in football, so that's a net gain
SEC locks down preeminence in basketball
No one gives a shite about baseball
North Carolina/South Florida market>>>>Louisiana by every metric
SEC institutional academic/international profile as a whole dramatically increases
I'm not sure what we're waiting for

They won't kick LSU out but I do believe there will be things that LSU must do to keep it from happening

Are you sure it's a bluff? If LSU calls the bluff and the conference cowers down - it would not only look terrible for the SEC as a whole, but also set a precedence of the conference having zero authority/power over the schools that are voluntary members.
I don't expect LSU to get kicked out, but wouldn't be shocked to see huge financial penalties, suspensions, and probation penalties levied at them. If I'm wrong and they get kicked out, I'd just laugh about it.

Honestly we should sell the state back to France.

All good arguments, but ever heard the term cut off your nose to spite your face?
The SEC is being run apparently by a sensitive bitch Commissioner and 2-3 loud voices in the room.
LSU needs to politely tell Sankey to go for it. LSU will likely tie it up in court and win a nice windfall. Brian Kelly payoff, here we come!
