He wasn't all bad. He just eventually fell apart when Pittman left and some of his best players like Alex Collins and Hunter Henry went on to the NFL, got lazy and became an alcoholic.

Oh, he was an alcoholic well before that. Bring him up to anybody in Madison and almost every person to a tee will have story about his drunk arse out at the bars and chasing coeds. It's kinda uncanny, really.

I think once the kid was born, he lost interest in putting full effort into head coaching. Which I kinda get...but bruh...you're paid millions of dollars.

What got Pittman the job was basically his connections in the coaching world and the ability he has to bring in established, big name coordinators. He fulfilled that promise, so I guess we'll see what happens.

Be real. What do y'all see in that guy?

A few things that make me like him.
1. Excellent recruiter
2. Excellent recruiter
3. Highly respected in coaching circles (good assistants want to work for him)
4. Having grown up next door during the Broyles years and coaching here before, he understands and more importantly respects our programs culture and history.

I listed it twice since recruiting is tough here. Just not a ton of highly rated prospects to get locally. While it wasn't some top ten class what we ended up with compared to where we were when he got here is pretty impressive.

I don't think he will win the SEC in the next couple of years or anything like that but myself and many other hog fans feel he can get us back to being respectable and get rid of the loser mentality on the team.

He did enough to get where he was comfortable, work hard up front for it to pay off. He didn't continue that though.

Looking back replacing him with Chad and Chavis was one of the dumbest ideas ever.

This is a moot point when the entire conference is full of excellent recruiters (almost all of which have experience recruiting as a HC). Better recruiters than Pittman, just in the SECw:

1. Ed O (natty, Meat Locker written about him, one of the best)
2. Saban (self explanatory)
3. Jimbo (natty)
4. Kiffin ( has coached multiple award winners. will continue to leverage on recruiting trail)
5. Mike Leach (has consistently outperformed at smaller schools because of his recruiting)

So being an excellent recruiter doesn't really mean shite when every coach you face happens to be better than you.

Hooray! Ironically, Matt Luke who filled Pittman's position at UGA was very respected. Respect doesn't translate to wins.

And Matt Luke also LOVED Ole Miss and respected our history of nattys. Doesn't mean shite.

Just a laughably bad hire all around

Sam can take the stress a lot better than Bert. He actually has lost weight since he got here.

Bert has always been lazy. He ran his mouth and talked trash on social media. Then He goes 0-8 in the SEC and that put tape over his mouth. He realized early on that he wasn't cut out for coaching in the SEC.

Good coach.

I absolutely have zero envy for what he is about to take over and compete with in the SEC West in the coming years.

What kind of fool expects Arkansas to outrecruit Bama, LSU and A&M? As to number 4 and 5 on your list...
Current recruiting class rankings:
21. Arkansas SEC Rank: 8th
.
33. Miss St. SEC Rank: 10th
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
59. Ole Piss SEC Rank: 13th

2020 Final Class Rankings
27. Miss St. (Got a lot of help from Moorehead)
30. Arkansas
34. Ole Piss

This is with us having won 4 games in 2 years and we were ranked in the hundreds when he got here two weeks before the early signing period.

Laughably bad hire indeed.

Pittman seems incredibly low energy and was just throwing out cliche after cliche in that video. Arky fans have somehow convinced themselves he's a good hire solely on the basis that it will be almost impossible to be as bad as Chad Morris

Yeah, and Ed O’s first HC gig wasn’t at LSU, it was a disastrous stop at OM.

If anyone thinks Pittman is the next Ed O they’re right, but since this is Pittman’s first HC job, it’ll be the Ole Miss version of Ed O.

Ed O had to go through A LOT before he became a successful HC (HC at OM, interim at USC, LSU and D coordinator roles). Pittman hasn’t gone through any of that AND he’s the same age as Ed O except without all the experience. What a shitty hire

You seem mad you didn't get the Pittboss.

That right there is the fault of your AD and the boosters for not checking those things out. I mean before anyone gets hired you checked his off the field stuff. Your school hired HCs that would backfired. This been going on the last 4 or 5 HCs until Sam Pittman. He may or may not be successful. That is hard to overcome when you are in the SEC that have great teams and harder to recruits and compete against them. It is doable but got to get lucky.
