It’s not and some of that is on him and he made mistakes.
But Brennan is a solid/ good QB.

Let’s compare him to your guy and my number 1 JT Daniels

Daniels ( 4 games )
1,231 pass yards 10 TDs 2 ints 67 percent completion

Brennan ( 3 games )
1,112 11 TDs 3 ints 60 percent completion

Not to off in numbers with Daniels had playing more games. Daniels leads in QBR and all that other stuff as well. But that’s not the point. Those numbers Brennan was puting up are definitely good. Considering LSU had no run game at that time and he was making his first couple starts with a bad O line. He absolutely will be a top 3 SEC QB in my eyes next year.

Bryce Young is TBD - can't rank him in the Top 5 until we actually see him play

That completion percentage is pretty mediocre as well for a 4th year player in a season that saw record breaking completion percentage from another SEC QB.

Wow, this is a low IQ take.

Brennan was starting for the first time ever in an offense that only had 2 returning starters.

Little different from Mac's situation.

Maybe, but I doubt it.

There isn’t a single offensive group that is better on paper offensively for 2021 vs 2020, plus it’s a new OC and system to learn.

The problem with those stats is that you fail to account the attempts per game. Daniels has less yards per game because he passes it way less

Yards per Attempt
Daniels- 10.3
Brennan- 8.5

1-2 as a starter is not on him.
As he put up like 34 41 and 41 in his first 3 starts. Threw 11 TDs which was maybe the top in the SEC at that time. I was very impressed knowing that this is his first real starting game action. Brennan is a top 3 SEC QB preseason. You could argue Corral over him I guess.

Those opponents were:
Mississippi State
Vanderbilt
Missouri

Mississippi State was 10th in the SEC in pass defense. Vandy pretty much matched LSU's passing output against them.

Vanderbilt was 12th. LSU's YPA was the 5th best amongst Vandy's opponents, and that includes Tennessee and Missouri - hardly passing powerhouses.

Missouri's pass defense was a decent 5th (8th in pass rating defense), but that was because teams could run so easily on them they didn't bother throwing much, or got ahead so brutally as to hit the brakes. LSU had to fight that whole game and came up short.

I'm not saying Brennan is bad - far from it - but using three games against those three teams as a baseline for greatness is probably jumping the gun.

How many yards per attempt did Daniels have in his first three starts?

Stop being humble. You know damn well Young is going to be spectacular. Add in the talent around him and he'll be in the Heisman conversation by 2022 at the latest.

#1 - Matt Corral
#2 - JT Daniels
#3 - Myles Brennan
#4 - Connor Bazelak
#5 - Will Rogers

Pretty slim pickings there, to be honest

I think it will be obrian learning a new system and not the other way around. He may install his own things here or there, but I think the philosophy will stay the same.

ETA: Nevermind it was still 10.3

Like I said LSU had no run game whatsoever especially in that Mizzou game. And LSU had to throw the ball. But they don’t want Brenanan to make big time mistakes so they kept it simple with the short passing routes. Brennan has sat back in learned for awhile. But that was his first real game action starts. So LSU was conservative.

The more I look at it the more I do think he'd have to poop his pants not to be in the Top 5, but past that who knows.

He's gonna be with a new batch of WRs and a new OC. I think he'll be good but who the hell knows until he actually has to play in a real game.

Correct. We've pretty much built in a base system that the OC who comes in is responsible for and then allowed to tinker with and add in his own wrinkles and preferences.

You can’t use context to discount the 2 games Matt Corral had 12 interceptions, and turn around and not use context for the fact Brennan had a low 3rd down percentage because in the Mizzou game we literally had 1 rush yard at half-time. 0/11 is bad regardless, but 3/11 would’ve been an astronomical achievement in that game. It was his 2nd start ever.

After the top 2 a crapload of uncertainty. I mean just about everyone would and has ranked Brennan in the top 5, and it would not be a shock if he doesn't even win the starting job (I think he will, but its not a lock).

I was actually looking at that list and wondering about putting Max Johnson in there ahead of some of the others that I have at #4/5.

If you told me I had to pick a guy returning player from 2020 and it couldn't be Corral, Daniels or Brennan I think I might pick Johnson.

It’s basically what we are doing. Keeping Brady’s base. We just need someone to come in and run it better. Linahan was not the guy.
