Yep last year was great! Keep up with reality. Next year might be back to winning 7 games. But not like winning 9-10 games is happening every year.

Bama has finished in the final year end top 10 of the AP Poll 30 times in last 50 years. That’s top 10 not top 25. LSU only 11 times.
Bama has the brand that is built to last! Right In the middle of the most fertile footprint of Recruiting. Also Florida, Georgia, LSU, and TexAM are all capable of producing with right combination. LSU and Florida have opened the lock with the right combination. Georgia lost the code from 1980 and are trying to find it, with A&M looking also.

Outside of Saban and Bryant, you've only won one title since the 40's.

Mizzou is always slept on. Major metropolitan areas and donors with a lot of money. Have some success and shite can start rolling.

Bryant and Saban is 39 years of success. No flash in the pan here. Even in our dark years, Dubose, Franchione, and Shula all had 10 win seasons each within 7 year period of time. Only 2 decades 50’s and 80’s without championship level seasons in 100 years. The right coach will always have the opportunity to be extremely successful at Bama. It is the historical top job in the SEC.

Started a thread to pretend Ole Miss is a middling job in the SEC.

So roughly 40 other years with 1 title.

It seems Alabama's model is pretty reliant on having a GOAT coach.

Bama was not seen as a top job in SEC before Saban.
Will be interesting to see this ranking after he leaves.

I have UGA and UF as two best jobs in SEC in no particular order (long term).

UF was seen as best job in country not too long ago.

I have A&M > AU as well.

Now let’s take out the two best coaches at every other job and reevaluate.

Sure, who do you count as the two best coaches at LSU?

History doesn't really matter to recruits.

Yes. When it happened a long time ago. But when you're winning 2 national championships and 4 SEC Championships per decade that's called a trend.

The exception is Alabama not winning a championship, not the rule.

That's why when the SEC Network shows "the greatest games" it involves Alabama losing because it's so rare.

The worst coach Alabama had in the last 50 years still won an SEC Championship.

Again, outside of Saban and Bear, you have one title since the 40s.

You don't win titles at a higher clip than anyone else without having a GOAT coach.

When you have the best history, facilities and the most-watched CFB team you tend to draw the best coaches. And not...say...promote your D-line coach because Tom Herman and Jimbo Fisher turned you down and now you have to settle for your 4th choice and an NFL position coach as your DC.

Who were the 4 choices?

Again, the best jobs attract the best coaches who don't leave for the Dolphins.
