Arkansas. No doubt. Arkansas. To us old Texas bastards, it’s still Arkansas. Goddamn hate is real.

If you're asking about SWC rivalries, the options are Arkansas or Texas A&M.

Oklahoma was Big 8. OU/texas game was a non-conference game until the Big 12 formed in the 1990s.

Oklahoma was in the Big 8. They were still the biggest rival but the biggest rival for Texas in the SWC was Arkie.

Texas and Arkie played in one of the Games of the Century for the national title in 1969.

Oklahoma left in 1919 to join the Missouri Valley (later known as the Big Eight) Conference, and was followed by Oklahoma State in 1925 — from then until 1991, the University of Arkansas would be the only conference member not located within the state of Texas.

However, the series between Texas and Oklahoma would continue as a non-conference matchup in the annual Red River Rivalry game held in Dallas.

Oklahoma was a charter member of the SWC. They were also members of the OIC during that same period, because it was common to belong to multiple conferences back then.

Am I missing some nuance of what you're saying?

You're being pedantic. That's what you're missing. They were in it for five years literally a hundred years ago

For the purposes of this conversation it's as if they weren't in it.

Okay, fair enough.

I wasn’t trying to argue with you, I just posted a direct quote that clarified what you stated.

From one old bastard to another thank you. Texas week was always looked forward to.

That's the only thing I missed about leaving the SWC.

1969 Texas-Arkansas still one of the all time great games. Watched in our den with my Dad and brother.

Funny thing is then we were Texas fans because my Dad liked Coach Royal who was the HC at State back in the 1950’s and was well thought by the State folks.

Is this a real comment on the rant where 60% of the threads are about A&M?

Yeah it is. I don't know you, but I either want to punch you in the face or drink a beer with you. Maybe both.
