Most people who want it moved have never been. Losing that game blows chunks the morning after but there really is no feeling in the world like spending all week down there and walking away with a W. It’s worth the pain of losing one year if you get to feel what it’s like to win the next. The electricity generated between that 50/50 split is surreal as well. It’s the damndest thing to literally feel the momentum shift in their between the two fanbases.

Anyone wanting this thing moved out of Jax can get bent

And the city of Jacksonville actually pays UGA more than UF to play the game in Jax.

Which makes sense due to travel costs.

Nice explanation. This game is on my bucket list. Hope to make it one year.

It's a good event. Tons of both fans tailgate together and it's all fine.

I've only seen trouble from the redneck drunks and the college-age drunks from each fanbase.

Both fanbases, whether either side wants to admit it or not, is made up of pretty much the same people.

Best state school in each State. Lot's of alums. Lots of students. Lots and lots of fans in general regardless of their degree from either.

It's the same damn people wearing different colors.

The only thing I don’t like is years like this where we only have 3 sec home games.

I would be livid if it moved. The entire experience is so unique, it would be a damn shame if anything every happened to disrupt it.

That's the bulk of it.

But as was said, every 15 years a discussion comes up about moving to a home and home. Or other host cities such as ATL.

Trust me when I say that all of the bitching about being in Jacksonville equates to more money in the university pockets for both UF and UGA. The bitching about ATL hotels and tax revenues to Georgia are taken into account in compensation to the university.

The art of the deal. Complain and moan and start from a negotiating stance with other options and several reasons and the final outcome will be further in your favor.

It’s unique in that fans of both teams can tailgate together, for the most part, without it being too heated between fans of both teams. Don’t get me wrong, I hate Georgia and their fans, and they feel the same about us and our fans, but we all tailgate at this game and have a blast together. It’s a huge party.

It’s very different from going to a Florida-FSU game in Tally or in Gainesville, where it’s 100% hate, visiting fans have to travel in packs to keep from getting in fights, etc.

I love the game being in Jax, have been each of the past 7 years- enjoyed it as a kid and now through college.

Been going on and off for 30+ years and rarely saw issues with either fan base. Our tailgate lot is a 50/50
split and its always a good time.

My old man has been setting his RV up right next to the same gator family for 20 years. Our families have become friends over a football game. My parents went to Jacksonville for that couples 50th-anniversary party. I was in their grandson's wedding. The week down there is bigger than the game.

Same here. Some years I even sit my UG friends on the UG side and never have any issues.

It's really not all that bad save for the few drunks and even fewer zealots that just can't handle winning/losing.

They could make more money if they sold the UF seats twice. Once to UF for the first half, and then to more UGA fans for the second half.

The same could be said for selling UG tickets.

Are you one of those zealots I just "spoke" about?

I would love it to be a true home/home set up.

If it has to be a neutral site, then move it somewhere that's NOT 1 hr. from Gainesville, but 5 1/2 from Athens. That's still considered a HOME game for the swamprats!

Savannah could work:
Athens - Savannah: 4 hrs.
Gainesville - Savannah: 3 1/2 hrs.

What stadium will host in Savannah?

Jax is the only good spot for a neutral game. NFL venue, and Jax is right on the border of Florida and Georgia, which brings in money to both states. Even if they built a great stadium, outside of a amount of travel time from each school, Savannah makes zero sense. A lot more is involved than just how far away it is from the college towns. You won’t find a better spot for a neutral site game between these schools than Jacksonville.

I love going to Jacksonville for this game every year. Anyone who wants to move this game out of Jax doesn't realize just how fun the entire experience is.

Frat Beach, a free Friday (+Thursday if you're normal) off of class, the whole scene around Jax that week, the tailgating the day of, the stadium's electricity, and the glorious drive back if you pull out the win.

Only thing that would make GA/FL better is if we banned non-UGA kids from going to St. Simons or any of the surrounding areas. Only fights I saw this past year were all from Georgia Southern kids fighting at Brogen's over the game.

but do y'all ever tire of the neutral game site?

No. That is an amazing atmosphere to attend in person. It's not like one of the neutral site kickoff games.

I went for the first time a few years ago expecting a lot of animosity between UGA and UF fans. What I found was quite the opposite. My cousin and I were walking around the tailgate area and a group of Florida fans invited us into their tailgate.

That weekend is an incredible experience.

absolutely fricking not. It's one of the best things going in CFB and to kill that would be a crying shame. Outside of stadium renovation it's been in Jax since the formation of the SEC in the 30s. It's also truly unique in its own way comapred to other neutral site games. -The setting is lovely, unlike a fairground or a big city parking lot. Right on the banks of St Johns and close to the beach -The 50/50 split is wonderful, although a few neutral sites also have this -It truly is a week long party that encompasses multiple cities and states. From jekyll island down to St. Augustine people come in droves for this. RVs start going down on Tuesday. Unlike other neutral site games, this is many people's vacation for the year. To get rid of this game and go home and home would be a slap in the face to tradition and history that began before anyone making that decision was ever born.
