Tickets are normally a lotto if I recall or something like that.
We went to one last year and it was pretty fun. Kids enjoy it. I could never quite keep the scoring straight.

I thought it was a baseball version of the Harlem Globetrotters but I guess it's an actual league with rules and standings?

It is pretty unbelievable to me just how popular these guys are. And I see the value, as I was a big Harlem Globetrotters fans growing up. But the way they are selling tickets is quite astonishing.
Last night I was flipping back and forth between the Banana’s game and Florida/OU. Completely different vibe. The complaint about baseball is it is boring. Bananaball is the response to this. It was at times cheesy, but never boring. I bet many if not most of the attendees don’t attend NCAA or MLB baseball games. Baseball is all about baseball. Bananaball is all about entertainment.
I did have one question about the ghey dancing. Is that normal for Bananaball? Or did they include it because they were in College Station and trying to appeal to that crowd?

I don't get the appeal of Banana Ball, but more power to them. If people are entertained by some clean family fun, the last thing I am going to do is be a critic.
That said. IHIOGA that the OP routinely falls for the banana in the tailpipe trick.

You just need to go to a game...watching it on TV is not the same. They really are a lot of fun.

As much as I like to bag on ATM for a lot of their "traditions" banana ball is a blast and a cool experience. Nothing gay about it

Its high energy, nonstop action, its a novelty and new. Even the Globetrotters can get old and boring during their show. I went to a game in Texas and they do a fantastic job of keeping you engaged from start to finish.

captdalton is probably the only poster here that can make a Savannah Bananas/Aggie thread about LSU somehow.

Both are true. It's more of a show than a sport, it's just that unlike the Globetrotters vs. the Generals, the ending isn't predetermined, allowing for multiple regional fan bases to form.
Baseball has to be harder to script than basketball, too, so it makes it easier on them from a show perspective. Can't guarantee a dramatic bottom of the ninth grand slam if the batter whiffs.

The rule that's funny to me is if a fan in the stands catches the ball, it's an out

I’m waiting for the copycat teams to start appearing.Maybe the Bananas saw it coming and made their own stooge teams? They’re drawing too much attention/money to still be the only comedy team in town

Why do you hate the Savannah Bananas?

I don't have strong feelings about it except when the players act like little girls or feminine.
But, my 3, 3, 6 and 7 year old grandsons love it and watch it all the time. So, I don't say anything negative, except that boys shouldn't dress up like girls.

It's harmless fun so I'm not one of those avid "they're ruining baseball!" people, but I just don't see the appeal. Certainly not to the level of engagement they pull. I watched a stream of one of their games on YouTube and it just didn't hold me.
For me it was fun in Savannah when it was pretty simple. A nice way to wile away a summer evening. Now that it is an event I don't know that it'd be all that enjoyable....I know paying the cost of admission would not be enjoyable. We were in New Orleans in late February and the show was in town...there were almost as many people walking around with Bannana swag on as there would be for teams in the Sugar Bowl...its a big deal and tickets were $100+. It ain't that fun, for me anyway....
