I thought it was a baseball version of the Harlem Globetrotters but I guess it's an actual league with rules and standings?

Yes and no. There are other "teams", but they are all owned by the same guy, and players swap between teams regularly.

Kind of like "Who's Line is It", where the questions are made up and the points don't matter.

Pure entertainment. I love it, and my kids love it.

I'd imagine it is one of the few things these days you can bring your kids to that will keep them engaged for a couple hours and you are not going to fear they will see something too crazy. Tickets aren't terribly expensive in some venues. And it probably encourages kids to go play outside and try their own crazy shite. Something kids have been missing for a a while.

As a Savannahian, I feel I should step in here. I can’t speak for other venues, but tickets at Historic Grayson Stadium (home of the Bananas) are $35 each and are all-you-can-eat. There’s a huge waiting list for season tickets so tickets can be hard to come by but the team actively cancels tickets found on the secondary market and have a face value resale website with no fees.

While the product is entertaining on tv, it’s nothing like being there live an in person. It’s like going to a carnival and a baseball game breaks out. There is real talent out there too. A couple former Bananas have made it to the Bigs.

EVERYTHING Jesse Cole (Bananas owner) does is FAN FIRST. From pep bands in the stands to players taking pictures and signing autographs two hours before first pitch to two hours after the last out is what has created this cult following. I go to a handful of games a year and get my fix, but my nine year old son is obsessed. Yeah it can be a little cheesy at times but it’s cheap family fun that the kids will remember for a lifetime.
