Football outsiders has a good power and efficiency rating system, but it's just for teams in college. It'd be nice to see something like that for the players, but that would take a ton of man power.

Yea - I think I remember Connelly discussed trying to do it but it ended up just being way too much.

Do you think there are 36 better than Derrick Brown?

Dude will be a top 10 pick, maybe top 5

their grades have left me scratching my head more than a few times.

Not only that, but they don't even seem to be using their grades as much of a criteria for this list

Lawrence, for example, was great down the stretch last year, but he struggled early on

It's just another popularity contest

So Tua has the overall higher grade, but is #2 to Tl. Makes TOTAL sense.

FWIW, #50, is graded higher than both of them...

Tells me this is just a popularity contest.

This is their 2019 projected Top 50 list, they used their grades last year as a reference, not a as the only measuring stick for the projection. Obviously Justin Herbert looks way out of place in Top 12 with a sub 80 grade. They think he will explode this season, like he did 2 years ago.

lol how is JR Reed on the list and not Swift? Reed has been a nice surprise at UGA, but #35 seems a bit high imo.

It is a great metric in the NFL where stats basically impart the same meaning regardless of opponent due to the fact that the overall talent delta between the best and worst team is minimal.

In college, in my opinion, the numbers are devalued tremendously due to the fact that talent and quality of opponent can vary so widely that mere aggregated stats can’t fully illuminate an individuals talent, value, or projections at the next level.

If they're using more or less the same methodology from pro to college, this makes a ton of sense, and absolutely explains what I mentioned above about discounting relative strength of opponent.

Putting both Lawrence ahead of Tua and Ross ahead of Jeudy makes it look like they literally only watched one college football game last year.
