"The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Oklahoma notified the Big 12 Athletic Conference today that they will not be renewing their grants of media rights following expiration in 2025. Providing notice to the Big 12 at this point is important in advance of the expiration of the conference’s current media rights agreement. The universities intend to honor their existing grant of rights agreements. However, both universities will continue to monitor the rapidly evolving collegiate athletics landscape as they consider how best to position their athletics programs for the future."

So does that mean they would buyout the remaining rights or wait until 2025

I feel bad for the intern who drew this up, probably super excited that he was going to write the statement that changed college football so much. And then, To get his thunder stolen so badly just a few days before that it’s just ends up being an afterthought.

I would’ve just linked one of the numerous threads on this board and been done with it.

I hope it takes until 2025, to make for the most awkward seasons of Big 12 athletics ever

That's along time for them to decide to do something else unless the SEC makes them sign something now.

Not dealing with the sips the last 10 years was glorious. That said, now that they’ve decided to follow us im looking forward to it.

I just don’t hate any other schools like I hate tu.

And OU is a good road trip, good fans. I’m glad they’re joining.

This is the first major fissure. The Big 12 is probably dead. The only question that remains is which way do they pivot, SEC or PAC whatever.

Please go West refugees from the broken conference.
