This looks more like a negotiating tactic to get more money from the little children. They are announcing they will not renew the new grant of rights in 2025.

"both universities will continue to monitor the rapidly evolving collegiate athletics landscape as they consider how best to position their athletics programs for the future."

I'm waiting on the official, "tu and Ou signed an agreement to enter the SEC". I'm gauging that they will take from the little kids in the b12 in order to make $56 million/yr for oU and tU ONLY. This is how they operate. I wish stankey would take notice to their childish games.

I disagree. Announcing no renewal takes away the conference’s ability to negotiate a new television deal that would create more money that would mostly go to UT/OU.

I see going forward two large conferences with divisions in each. Much like the NFL model. With the NCAA basically worthless at this point Sankey is leaning toward him and the SEC becoming the new league and power of college football. The smaller schools may stick it out with the NCAA but the AD’s and Presidents of the larger Universities are trying to make the most attractive product possible to get the large payout for a future TV deal.

Don’t be surprised about hearing rumblings from Amazon and Fox.

hope it takes until 2025, to make for the most awkward seasons of Big 12 athletics ever

Imagine the big12 championship ceremony when the commissioner has to give a speech or give Oklahoma or Texas the trophy

The question now is do the remaining schools keep the conference together long enough to make OU and t.u. pay up? Or do they just blow it up now and go looking for new homes?

The entire point of OU/TX cahootery is to protect and preserve that very institution, genius.

I like the OU/TX game. Just think it would be better at night.

Then everywhere TU goes, cowbells will be ringing. Nobody is taking away Moo State’s cowbells.

There’s the matter of the ironclad ACC GOR to contend with. Any poaching of the ACC will be very, very expensive.

Which is why I think Clemson, FSU, and Miami might be completely fricked unless the B1G wants them. They don't enhance SEC TV revenue, so the cost outweighs the benefit. I'm not necessarily sure that's the case with a school like NC State or Virginia Tech. But all of that is obviously subject to the kind of financial analysis I'm not remotely equipped to perform. It could very well be that they're safe for now because none of them are worth the buyout to anybody.

Hell, if we're going, let's go for broke. Screw NC State, go after UNC. Take the flagship. We don't need any more lil' brothers in the league. Va Tech is probably a better get than UVa. The Big 10 can poach Duke and Uva for their academics and their shitty football. And with Coach K. finally retiring, who knows what Duke basketball will be?

Then everywhere there would be personal fouls. And if it continues, forfeiture of games begins to occur
