No one in the SEC gives a shite about that 11am game

That’s what we call LSU-Florida weekend

There’s the matter of the ironclad ACC GOR to contend with. Any poaching of the ACC will be very, very expensive.

Which is why I think Clemson, FSU, and Miami might be completely fricked unless the B1G wants them. They don't enhance SEC TV revenue, so the cost outweighs the benefit. I'm not necessarily sure that's the case with a school like NC State or Virginia Tech. But all of that is obviously subject to the kind of financial analysis I'm not remotely equipped to perform. It could very well be that they're safe for now because none of them are worth the buyout to anybody.

It is smart for Texas and OU to work together. Two of the biggest brands in college sports. The package deal gives more leverage.

This is the first major fissure. The Big 12 is probably dead. The only question that remains is which way do they pivot, SEC or PAC whatever.

Please go West refugees from the broken conference.

The problem I see is that I'm not sure the Pac-12 will get a consensus on several of the better additions in the Big-12 remnants. I may be overrating cultural/political differences from the interior/sun belt v. west coast but I just have my doubts TCU or Baylor would get much support in their vote. Every school in the Pac-12, even the private schools, are secular institutions.

The ACC taking WVU makes sense but they also declined to add them a decade ago when the Mountaineers had expressed interest in that arrangement. Big-12 was a marriage of convenience and nothing more for WVU. Does the ACC's interest differ now that the real play would be to get a largely geographically contiguous unit of 16 teams together? The big thing is that their 15th full member needs to sweeten the pot to close the Notre Dame deal.

Kansas would be a great add for basketball but basketball doesn't drive these realignments. Iowa State, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State are all second fiddle programs in sparsely populated states. What is the brand value-add for a conference adding them?

Can't wait for shite like this:

1.Texas goes to Moo State and loses.
2. They get Greg Sankey on the phone and tell him they don't like the cowbells. They want the cowbells gone.
3. Greg Sankey outlaws cowbells.

Imagine that x 1 billion. That's the snakes y'all are letting in here. All the people who want this are thinking "No, Texas is gonna do it OUR way. This is OUR conference..."

Think again.

Miami is never going be a target for poaching. Very small alumni base

Why would we call Sankey.
Calling ESPN. They tell Sankey what to do.

Not even in the SEC yet and we already know this

We should go after NC State and VA Tech, that is if this thing isn't stopping at 16 teams. I guess if we are avoiding Clemson and FSU we could technically go for UNC and Duke as well (we all know they're a package deal). But honestly why not WVU? You get the Pittsburgh market in that case.

The cowbells have been banned before and been officially curtailed though it isn't enforced.

Texas isn't in a conference full of teams just lucky that they're raising their school's stature by association. They're coming to a conference that already has half of the top 10 most valuable ADs in college athletics.

I have no doubt that they will try to throw their weight around...all the 800lb gorillas in this conference try to throw their weight around...the difference is that there are too many of them in one room to just rampage your way to whatever you want.

So does that mean they would buyout the remaining rights or wait until 2025

Yes most likely they will not wait for 2025, they will buy their way out sooner...the people that downvoted you don't have a clue...

I bet they move it to prime time in Arlington in November. The fricking retarded big 12 has no idea how to capitalize on a gold mine like the sec does. We’ll show them how it’s done.

The statement today is the final nail in the coffin for the Big-12. It is exceedingly likely that the remaining 8 will be quickly finding new arrangements and wish to execute upon those arrangements before 2025. I imagine that the Big-12 members will have the votes to dissolve itself within a year.

This looks more like a negotiating tactic to get more money from the little children. They are announcing they will not renew the new grant of rights in 2025.

"both universities will continue to monitor the rapidly evolving collegiate athletics landscape as they consider how best to position their athletics programs for the future."

I'm waiting on the official, "tu and Ou signed an agreement to enter the SEC". I'm gauging that they will take from the little kids in the b12 in order to make $56 million/yr for oU and tU ONLY. This is how they operate. I wish stankey would take notice to their childish games.
