ESPN will use anything they can to renegotiate a more favorable deal - that's just simple business. The conference could lose Vandy, and ESPN will use it as an excuse to get back to the table. It doesn't have to have any validity, it's a contractual clause that the SEC signed when they inked the media deal. SEC stands to lose money if they kick ANYONE out of the league. Business will rule over fandom 100x's out of 100 with the universities. They're here to make money.

I don't want to be kicked out, for the record, and it's unbelievable that anyone thinks A) LSU's actions warrant it or B) this is good for anyone.
It seems pretty clear that if you bring in pro players the answer is yes, you will be removed.
If you don't fill those last 2 spots you left open for pro players, then you won't be.

The history of this conference is one in which LSU is a major part, for almost a century. To end that over LSU actually not breaking a single rule is absolutely absurd. That's before we even talk about the economics, which LSU and the SEC enrich each other.
If our fellow SEC programs vote us out over not breaking any rules and a half time joke to Holly Rowe, they are being completely short sighted.
Should Kiffin shut up? Sure. But the SEC has dealt with a lot worse "institutional control" situations than this. This is about feelings, not reality. No rules have been broken. The SEC needs to handle this behind closed doors in a way that doesn't have expulsion on the table if they truly feel we should be punished for making jokes.

Because you left 2 spots open on your roster to possibly add them later, and then Kiffin lacks the ability to keep his mouth shut.

We're not the only school with open roster spots. The kids aren't rostered. Yes, they were held open originally in case we could roster them, but we chose not to.
It seems premature to vote on expelling LSU. Do we need to fill those spots with someone off the street to make everyone feel better?

And Kiffin making a Kiffin joke to Holly Rowe is quite a leap for "lack of institutional control"

No, I don't think LSU should be expelled, but if the allegations are true, this is a shot across the bow for your governor, political class, and boosters to step away before they torpedo the university. The conference is, for all intents and purposes, building an argument (or case) for a lack of institutional control at the university.

I have no interest in seeing LSU expelled for this. There are programs that have shielded pedophiles (Penn State) and sexual assault (Baylor) who were never expelled from their conferences. It's true neither of those were the SEC, but my point is that LSU has done nothing to that level.
Now, I don't LIKE where college football is headed. I think each change has usually been with the caveat, "but only in situation X..." but we all know that's never the case. College football right now is textbook example of "give an inch, take a mile."
I don't blame Lane for taking advantage of the situation; he's not the disease, just a symptom of it.

We are in control. We haven't broken any rules.
End of the day it's because Kiffin is a loud mouth and people don't like him. He seems to be, however, in complete control of the situation.

I think the state of Louisiana should've already done that. This entire affair has been a series of moving goalposts by the NCAA, the SEC and the individual universities. Their statements and their actions have been inconsistent within this single case, and as it relates to previous cases and actions in general over the years. I think a good set of lawyers would expose their rulings and enforcement as arbitrary and capricious.

LSU fan here. I am in full agreement with you. This has gone too far and LSU needs to stand-down.
