I wouldn't put Malzahn in the same category as Freeze. He isn't bringing it up all the time in a football context, but he's more open about it publicly AWAY from the gridiron than, say Miles, Nutt, or Saban. He's answered plenty of questions about his faith, and he certainly doesn't shy away from the fact that he's a Christian. A quick Google search turned up several articles that touched on his faith over the years. He provided plenty of quotes in them, but they aren't him blowing his own horn. He's just answering the questions. Also, his wife is VERY public about her faith.
I certainly didn't mean it in a derogatory sense. I respect the way Malzahn approaches his talking about his beliefs in a humble manner.

I just see that stigma attached to him (mainly from Arkansas fans) but have yet to see him really inject that into football at Auburn (publicly).
But I guess it's football in the South and unfortunately that comes with the territory.

For some on this board, all he would have to do is mention it one time in an interview 10 years ago and he would be overstepping. Or have his picture taken going into a church and they are going overboard.

No other coach can beat Nick Saban back to back.
Spurrier did in 2000 and 2001
Miles did in 2010 and 2011
A few probably did when he was at Michigan State

Joe Paterno, Jon Cooper, Lloyd Carr, and Tom Osborne off the top of my head. But Michigan State wasn't in great shape when he got there. Plus, he was a inexperienced coach 20+ years ago.

Nice pic, the Bear, Joe N, Tom Landry and Billy Graham.
Just noticed that the only two looking at the paper/program their hands are Joe and Bear Bryant. Is that significant?

Jim Tressel at Ohio St. was pretty despicable. He had several religious signs & books on his desk & talked a good game. But, real life, he was almost the polar opposite of what a good Christian should be about. He had issues with this at his job prior to going to the Buckeyes, too.

I could see no reason not to doubt your knowledge on this since you are such an unbiased person when it comes to judging Ole Miss or anything related to it.

Amazing the hypocrites on this post who questions anybody else's faith. I have never read an NCAA rule quoted in the Bible.

Bert's pretty religious. Even patterns his look after Buddha.

Everyone was religious a couple decades ago but, it was more cultural than spiritual. Although, it did make the drinking and adultery more fun.

Chizik kept saying "It's a God thing" during the 2010 season.
Bill Curry had been trained as a pastor, but he was never involved in any scandals so I don't know if that counts.

So what has Freeze done that is so un-Christian? I assure you your pastor does worse things.

I am a Christian and I don't have a problem with coaches answering questions about their faith. There just isn't a reason to make it a big part of what is happening on the field. It just comes off as pretentious, because God isn't interested in football scoreboards. It just puts you under a microscope and sets you up for a fall. If you are a Christian with real convictions, there is no need to flap your gums about it. Show it in your actions toward your team and others.
Also, I can't believe I forgot Richt. He's another guy who handled himself very well as a Christian in the public eye, and over a long period of time.
