"Baseball is huge," Brett said. "When you're sitting up there puking 15 times a day, the one thing you want to get back to is a huge motivator. I'd go to our pitcher-catcher workouts for our high school, and it would be a huge breath of air for me."

Now in his senior season, Brett still has not missed a game, appearing in all 32 games for the Bobcats. He owns a .414 batting average with an on-base percentage of .549 with 15 doubles, 31 RBI, 28 walks and 22 runs scored through July 7.
All of that while playing arguably the hardest position on the baseball diamond: catcher.

The latest saga for Brett Harris came on Sunday, June 28, when he received a message to call Ole Miss baseball coach Mike Bianco.
"When he got on the call, the first thing he said was, 'We have some bad news,'" Brett Harris recalls.
During that call, Brett was informed that the Rebels were rescinding his scholarship.
He had been committed to Ole Miss for four years, where his elder brother Calvin won a national championship in 2022.
"It didn't hit me fully, because I was like, 'There's no way,'" Brett said. "A month and a half before (going to college), what's a kid supposed to do? You're not giving a kid much of a chance after four years of being loyal to you ... You're not giving him much of a chance to go out and find a new school."

First, Ole Miss refuses to allow Lane Kiffin to coach the team he built in the CFP all because he refused to sign a contract extension…
…now this?
Disgusting.

I'm not calling anyone a liar, but that doesn't even make sense.

Not surprising Ole Piss is a shitbag program.
Sad racists over there

Bianco stealing scholarship money from a cancer patient?
Not a good look.
Not a good look.

Iowa offered him, he landed ok.
Awful look...
But college sports is now a business and coaches are retained or fired based on results on the field. You went 8-22 in conference but your a good guy so lets extend you, is not how it works.

So they rescind the offer because Ole Miss fears he may have to miss time for treatment? Put him on some other form of scholarship that allows him to continue at Ole Miss in case he does have to miss time.
Trash gonna trash.
Trash gonna trash.

Iowa has a special place in their hearts for kids with pediatric cancer.
Ole Miss will want this story to go away, quickly.

Well, he could be embellishing for sure. But it does make practical sense to pull a kids offer if you don't think he's going to contribute to the team.
It just feels extremely icky morally, if this is how it went down.
He's been committed for 4 years, his brother played and won a title there, he's still got good stats in high school, and he's fighting cancer.

His brother didn’t win a title at Iowa and he wasn’t committed to them for four years and about to move on campus.

The young man's situation is not new and yet OM decided to wait until a month and a half before the beginning of the school year to yank his scholarship. This was after he had been committed for 4 years. POS move.

Maybe I just don't want to admit to myself that someone would do this just for that reason.

What doesn’t make sense…?
Do you need someone to read it for you or something?
Fishing for embarrassed Ole Miss fans’ upvotes…nice.

If true, it's a really bad look for Ole Miss.
I hope that kid heals and goes on to write a fantastic story for himself in baseball and life.

"Brett reached out to Iowa, and the Hawkeyes are offering him a scholarship to join the program, giving him the chance to play closer to home."
I don't think Iowa's the bad guy here.
