they are a horrible matchup for UGA and will win that.
Just going by all the hype, they very well could. I don't know a ton about them, but I am curious about what makes them a horrible matchup for Georgia? We have something like 8 starters returning on defense and was excellent stopping the run last season, and are loaded in the secondary with two 5* in KJ Bolden(S) and Ellis Robinson(CB).
I get that Oklahoma has a great defense, though, and if we have a bit of a weakness on defense it MIGHT be pass rush, although it sounds as if the coaches are working to improve that.
This is not meant to argue you down. I am just wondering what you mean.

Plus what makes anyone think Venables will even want to open up the offense? He’s a defensive minded coach that was conservative a lot last year. Call me crazy but OU could lose to Michigan, Texas, UGA, A&M and Ole Miss. They could go 7-5 or 8-4 just as easily as 10-2.
As to your first comment...
Venables is pretty hands off on the offense. His OC is going to have free reign for the most part. Mostly because Venables doesn't even have a D coordinator anymore. He's it.
As for your second point... I agree. If OU lost every game to a team that has the potential to beat them... They could go 5-7... last year they played in a bunch of tight games and won all of them except Ole Miss... Texas was kind of tight for a while... but wasn't a one score game.
We'll see how they do in tight games this season.

Like most teams gonna come down to OL and QB play. I have them at 9 wins.

This concerns me a bit. At times, the dude had no idea how to manage the clock. Also, too much RPO. Hoping things have been corrected

Way too much RPO run last year, but QB had broken hand….and no TE game….Sooners relied on defense last year to win games, they relied on offense to not make too many mistake for the defense and ST to win the game…. This year we add an offense to the things that could win a game.

OU will be in every game from here on out in the sec with Venables as the dc and head coach … with zero offense last year we was a playoff team . We now have legit te blockers and we are not starting 3 freshman OL , 2 true with a qb with a broke thumb. We have 2 more stud wrs transfer in as well . OUs offense will be much better and if it’s any better OU is a playoff team again. It’s really not that hard to figure out and OU has a zero percent chance of having 6 loasss unless this team loses their entire OL and wr group like two heads ago . 2027 team wil have a drop off due to 10-15 nfl draft picks leaving and a new qb … this is Venables most talented team this year though

and one thing that has been consistent is they all think Oklahoma is a legit title contender.

OU fans and insiders frequently overrate their talent. We have heard this kind of preseason stuff before only for them to go 6-7. Average skill position players across the board (they are calling Parker Livingston a “stud” which should tell you a lot). Their QB is massively over-hyped. Their defense is very solid but elite? No. 8-9 win team.

It’s amazing how OU fans think Venables is Saban 2.0. Just because he’s one of them
He’s never done anything wrong and is bulletproof.

What exactly points to the offense being totally revamped? It's the same OC running the same offense that was built around the same QB at Wazzu that was brought over to OU last year
There may be hope the OL is much improved, but the pieces say that's still very much tbd
The fact that Arbuckle and the staff have totally revamped the offense during the off-season and brought in a slew of personnel around Mateer that we didn't have last season?
It's not like the offense could go anywhere but up from a year ago.

Well Oklahoma's OOC schedule is an absolute joke so they have that going for them. I see them losing 3, possibly 4 games.

You play Clemson, La-Tech, and McNeese in your OOC this season.
What a gauntlet!
Pipe down.

The writers may have us at 10-11 wins based on eyeballs, but Vegas is using actual computations/odds by studying our schedule (brutal,) past history, and other data.
The truth is probably somewhere between the two.
I would lean towards the opinion of the men who are taking actual bets on this outcome.

Really??? Michigan isn't better than Clemson and La tech is much better than the juggernaut UTEP and New Mexico.

Michigan is a 7-5 team. OU has the advantage in every position group .
It will be a blowout

New Mexico was 9-4 last year while La Tech was 8-5 sport but nice try!

Yes, really.
You're pretending Clemson didn't fall off the map several years ago which is laughable. And yes, Michigan has been better then Clemson for the last several years.
And no, La-Tech isn't "much better" than UTEP or New Mexico. They're the same.
