Well, the shame really falls on LSU on allowing a team they already beat in the regular season to go into the Dome and absolutely skullphuckk you in a shut out! Dayumm!

We had 4 receivers from our team that year that got drafted and a TE, plus the first team all-SEC QB and we still only put up 7 points on offense against LSU.

It was only 24-17 after the 3rd quarter but they wore our defense out in the 4th with 17 unanswered. Just don't think OSU's defense could have stood up the whole game, but they might have been able to put up more points.

Too bad they weren't good enough to beat Iowa State.

LSU was built to stop offenses like Oklahoma State.

So good that they lost to Iowa State. I'm sure he has an excuse for that though. If only he was "man" enough.

Stop whining. Les Miles had balls and told the truth by voting Alabama #2. If only you would do the same.

The coaches poll only made up 1/3 of the formula, not 1/2. If you're going to whine at least have something to whine about.

The only thing I could conclude by Oklahoma State being in the NC game was that LSU would have won to the tune of something like 34-17. Easily.

Gundy's D would have had no chance. LSU's defense would have gotten enough stops to beat OSU. It was like Bama-Oklahoma this year, and that wasn't close to a typical Bama D.

By the time Oklahoma adjusted , it was far too late. Had that been the previous years' Bama D out there they would have embarrassed the Sooners. As it was Bama flat dropped 3 INT's or it could have been a rout.

Lincoln Riley has convinced me he is the Joe Biden of football coaches. He swears they were so close to winning that game, and they were never closer than 11 in the second half, not to mention Bama took a knee late to keep from scoring over 50 on him. They could not stop the Alabama offense.

Sounds like it.

Gundy keeps talking about this because he has no other recent success to talk about.

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy: We would have beaten LSU in 2011; 'We were too good'
If that's the case, why the hell was he so passive and submissive about where his team should play in the postseason?

I remember Saban grumbling about schedule strength etc, and saying Alabama clearly earned another shot at LSU, every chance he got.

I also remember Gundy meekly saying "I guess we should have won that game" or something to the effect. He could have been screaming bloody murder about winning a conference vs not even winning a division, that the head-to-head game between LSU and Alabama had already been played on the field, so on and so forth. He didn't. He gave up without even fighting for the spot, before it was decided.

My impression is, Oklahoma State was good, maybe as good as Arkansas (but maybe not). And he believed that, and saw how both LSU and Alabama kicked the shite out of Arky, and he wanted no part of either team. He wanted to finish in the Top 3, for prestige, without getting blown off the field.

I prefer the Central Florida approach, talk up a big game and try to get that shot.

Had LSU and OSU played, LSU should have won, but with LSU s flippant attitude on 1/9/12, I feel it would have only been exasperated knowing the opponent.
Anything could have happened had they played.

2014 the number 5 team TCU was the best team in the country and would have won the playoff.

Alabama only beat Oklahoma like that because of Alabama's offense.

Had somehow that Alabama and Oklahoma St would have played in 2011, Oklahoma St would have won handily by 2 scores. LSU's defense though was better able to handle Oklahoma State's offense. The evidence of that was in 2012 and 2013 as well as anytime Alabama ever had to go up against these high flying offenses.

LSU should have won the 2011 NC but it didn't happen that way. I acknowledge that but in reality LSU was the better team over the whole of the season.

OSU finishing ahead of Alabama in the computer polls (both that compiled 1/2 of the BCS formula that year)

Nope. The computers made up 1/3.

Because the AGREED-UPON BCS FORMULA WAS IGNORED

How's that? The Computers, Coaches Poll, and Harris Poll were each 1/3 of the formula. Bama won both 3rds that were voted upon by humans who were capable of watching football games, and Okie Lite won the Excel spreadsheets that were so fundamentally awful that the BCS had to reduce their influence from 1/2 to 1/3 of the formula because they kept spitting out bullshite.

My question - Why even PLAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY the SEC Championship Game that year ??????????????????????

Because that's how the SEC has chosen to determine their champion.

Oklahoma State deserved to play LSU more than Alabama that year based off of their resume, but LSU and Alabama were in another league over any other teams in the country that year and everyone knows it.

Why does everybody think this is so far fetched? That championship game LSU looked like a chicken with its head cut off. They were terribad that game. Brandon weeden and Justin blackmon would've had a field day. And I'm pretty sure they had a good running back that year also.
