I count 0-1. The lsu game wasn't really close and a&m only ended up being close because of a late touchdown. Saban hasn't been good in fourth quarter games.

I haven't read the thread, and I don't have any desire to do so, but I agree with the Oklahoma guy. Alabama is the best team in the country IMO. The only team that I could see being better is Florida State. I am sad that we will not see that game to find out. Auburn is not a better team than Alabama. Sorry, reality hurts. I watched both teams play multiple times this year. Alabama was definitely the best team in the SEC, and if there is a team better than them, it is Florida State.

No doubt. Any team that is the 'Co- Western Division Champion' is at the pinnacle of performance.

It was a one possession game in the fourth quarter, it was a close game.

The Miss State game was pretty close in the fourth.

I was not referring to the LSU game. Was not close.

So what is your brilliant rebuttal for 2012?

I kind of want Alabama to lose even though I would get lambasted from my Sooner friends. Alabama isn't a great team this year and they certainly aren't the best team in the country. They had multiple chances to prove it, and they simply didn't. AJ is incredibly average, and their special teams are horrendous. You can't be the best team in football with that combination. It's as simple as that.

... The one that mattered. You can't think Bama has even below average special teams after that performance. I mean I realize I'm talking to the most delusional poster on this board but y'all easily have the worst special teams in the conference.

they should invest in a better kicker

Why do people say this? He had great stats coming into the game. For some reason, he couldn't perform in what turned out to be the biggest game of his life. At least in 2011, Alabama still made it to the national championship.

That's what I don't get. We can argue about who is the best team by using some vague metrics and weird thought experiments (Team X would beat team Y 9 times out of 10) or whatever. We could reach a consensus of what team looks the best after what I'm sure would be a well-reasoned and incredibly articulate discussion on the rant.

And it simply would not matter. Football cares nothing about your team being the "best" football team. It cares about the winner. And, at this point, I'd much rather be a winner than the best team.

Yeah, Alabama's offense did little in the second half. However, Alabama's first half touchdowns were all in the red zone, so you can quit the red zone defense crap. Furthermore, Alabama had a drop in the end zone, failed to convert 4th downs, and missed 3 reasonable field goals. Both teams left points on the field.

The argument for Alabama being a better team examines the entire season instead of one game. Over the course of the season, Alabama did better versus common opponents. Auburn has a great running game, but the team as a whole hasn't been dominant versus good competition outside of the Missouri game.

It's like y'all don't get that the bcs nc matchup has already been decided. Claiming you're the best team doesn't matter and won't help you like the past two years. The hype machine means nothing.

Not sure how a measure of the season is more important than head to head. Additionally, Auburn is a better team now than when we played most common opponents such as MSU, OM, LSU then common games like UTk and TAMU were both relatively similar scores. Arkansas was a shite game for AUburn and we still blew then out. Our cross division was superior with UGA over Uk

Not seeing where you are going there since Alabama played a shite schedule as usual so the only great competition you dominated was LSU while Auburn had mizzou

Then in the game itself the dropped pass was good coverage and fourth down was flat out stuffed by auburn who stopped bama consistently in the fourth quarter. One of your two TDs from the redone was off a turnover

Auburn had burned the coverage and our WR went all Timmy from south park. I could talk about failed fourth downs too but we got beat so just like you did

The better team won. Alabama won the turnover battle and was in the redone multiple times. A better team would have been able to win
