That's makes me laugh about people saying it was a miracle at the end or luck. The luckiest play in the entire Iron Bowl was a 99 yard pass play from Alabama due to piss poor coverage.

What about Auburn's last touchdown where Jones and Clinton-Dix abandoned their assignment, which left Coates alone.

So much Bama butthurt in this thread. I love it. Saban looked like a buffoon. Great coaches are in the NFL, not in Tuscaloosa. Even goofy-arse Miles could not have come up with a more epic way to lose a game. Face it Bama, yall got a mulligan against LSU, a layup against ND, and the luck finally ran out. The most epic defeat in modern CFB is now owned by Bama.

Yea, Auburn didn't have any injuries or anything...

That's not the point. Do you mind explaining what significant starters Auburn was missing? HCD was injured but couldn't come out and only had 1 tackle according to an article that was shared here. Vinnie Sunseri would have been very helpful versus Auburn. Another thing, Alabama played quite undisciplined and did not tackle the way they usually do. Auburn needed an improbably, extremely rare play to beat Alabama's B- game. I laugh at the fans that talk about losing the turnover battle. Auburn only had 1 turnover. How about the multiple turnover on downs that Alabama had in Auburn territory?

They are superior to Bama on offense and so vastly superior on special teams I don't see how it isn't 100% obvious they are the better team.
Auburn is not vastly superior than Alabama on Special Teams. Alabama's defense isn't elite or great by recent standards, but it's still miles better than Auburn's.
quote:

Depends on if Cade Foster is the kicker for Alabama. With Cade Foster- Auburn wins four or five times Without Cade Foster- Auburn wins one or two times

No, it really depends on if Cyrus Jones is starting as the #2 corner. HCD played with an injury, and Alabama was playing without the true leader of the secondary and run stopping specialist, Sunseri.
Yeah, Alabama's offense did little in the second half. However, Alabama's first half touchdowns were all in the red zone, so you can quit the red zone defense crap. Furthermore, Alabama had a drop in the end zone, failed to convert 4th downs, and missed 3 reasonable field goals. Both teams left points on the field.

The argument for Alabama being a better team examines the entire season instead of one game. Over the course of the season, Alabama did better versus common opponents. Auburn has a great running game, but the team as a whole hasn't been dominant versus good competition outside of the Missouri game.

they should invest in a better kicker

Why do people say this? He had great stats coming into the game. For some reason, he couldn't perform in what turned out to be the biggest game of his life. At least in 2011, Alabama still made it to the national championship.

Isn't it a bannable offense to link bleacher report?

Is that so? This is my first offense, and I posted the article in humor. Don't think I actually buy this garbage. I've made good posts in the past too, but alas I'm not liked much and prefer reading the posts here. Eliminate me if you must. Farewell. This place is legit.

This is an amusing read, but we will see over the next 2 seasons whether or not any of this merits alarm. I trust that Nick Saban will make the necessary recruiting adjustments to counter the spread if necessary. Who's excited to see Texas A&M's unstoppable offense this fall? :rotflmao:
Conference championships shouldn't be a major provision. The conferences are unbalanced. Every conference has their Big 2, but the SEC annually has at least 4 teams that compete with other conferences ' Big 2's. Including a conference championship provision would help the weaker leagues. I'd be more in favor of getting rid of conference championships; they're not an honest play-in because the championship games rarely feature a conference's two best teams.
Team Stat Comparison
ALA LSU
1st Downs 18 22
Total Yards 331 435
Passing 165 296
Rushing 166 139
Penalties 1-15 7-51
3rd Down Conversions 1-9 10-20
4th Down Conversions 0-0 0-2
Turnovers 2 0
Possession 20:45 39:15

I don't know; maybe the fact that LSU held the ball for 2/3 of the game has something to do with Mettenberger putting up better numbers.

The SEC Championship was close on the scoreboard. Georgia needed a fake punt and a blocked field goal to keep the game close. The blocked field goal never should have happened. On replay, you can see that the incomplete pass that set up 4th down wasn't tipped, so the pass interference flag shouldn't have been overturned. Nick Saban's clock mismanagement before the end of the 1st half and AJ's interception on the back should pass into the end zone also cost Alabama points. Overall, we're talking about 3 TD swing here. The better team won.

The Texas A&M game has been beaten to death. I've heard the arguments. I'm going to have to go with the offense on this one. The offense was the reason for the loss.

I did a search of threads regarding Spring Games, and nothing like this appeared. It's a YouTube channel. Check it out.
Why no LSU @ Georgia? I can think of several reasons of why this game is deserving. Alabama v. LSU is always close, and LSU has the talent and coaching staff to have 1 or 0 losses heading into Tuscaloosa. What can we see? In the past 3 matchups, one offense has struggled. By November 9, both defenses will likely be playing strong, maybe even elite levels. I'd like the CBS night game to be a breath of fresh air.

No. I'd say the 2011 Linebackers were arguably the best in SEC history. I think LSU had the edge in secondary in 2011

So you're basically claiming that the 2011 LSU Defense was greater than the 2011 Alabama defense?

Regarding the 2011 Alabama defense, why no love for DeQuan Menzie? How'd he wind up a 5th round draft pick? No one ever talks about him. Why?

2012 USCe was a very good team, but let's get a reality check. 2012 A&M lost two very close games to LSU and Florida, two teams that in a normal year would be in BCS games. They beat Alabama IN Tuscaloosa and crushed a good Oklahoma team in the bowl game.

USCe did crush UGA, but they weren't that close in either of their losses and they squeaked out a win by the seat of their pants against Michigan in the bowl game. These two teams weren't the same.

And 2011 LSU dwarfs all. They had a better resume going into the BCS title game than most national champions in other years.

Alright, we've heard that South Carolina had the flu the week that they played Florida. Also, while Florida did blowout South Carolina, it's a stretch to say that South Carolina was dominated.

Now, I watch the big games when I can and do a lot of reading online to gain a perspective on things I may have missed or just didn't know. I want to know why no one has mentioned South Carolina's struggle versus Tennessee. I know Marcus Lattimore went down and that Clowney was playing off of one foot; however, Richardson held his own against Clowney until that one play that cost Tennessee the game. South Carolina couldn't hang with Bobby Petrino's passing attack and they struggled against Tennessee's. South Carolina still has the one WTF game each year and struggles against the run. I may be wrong, but they also seem to have a problem against team's with a good offensive line and passing attack.
South Carolina is not elite, and they aren't ready. While they could have held their own and beaten Notre Dame, that wouldn't have made them the best team in the country. Keep in mind that my post takes into account things that I've read and/or seen.

you can go through Alabama's scores and do the same thing. If ands and buts were candy and nuts we would all have a merry christmas

What? Georgia left more than a score on the field? I just want to know why the media and fans haven't debated why Georgia didn't go for 2 on their last touchdown? Just think about it. If they'd gotten the 2, then a field goal would have sent the game into overtime. If they failed, then they would have found themselves in the same situation as what actually happened, i.e. passing down the field quickly with little time.
quote:

his dumbass decision to not let Murray spike the ball directly caused us to lose to Bama and not go to the national title game.

Everyone blames Richt or Murray for not spiking the ball. Why didn't Georgia go for 2 on their last touchdown? If they failed, they still would have needed a touchdown to win the game. Also, let's not forget Georgia's defensive performance and Alabama's gifts. Saban mismanaged the clock before halftime, there was the back shoulder pass intercepted in the end zone, there was a PI flag thrown that was overturned because the ball was considered tipped. After that PI call didn't go through, Georgia blocked a long range field goal, caught it, and returned it for a touchdown.

tl;dr Georgia only scored 21 on the Alabama defense. Alabama put 32 on yours and left a few more on the field.

Why do people just assume bama beats UGA. This is ridiculous. UGA can play and exploit bamas overrated secondary.

You have no room to talk about secondaries after your performance AT HOME against Ole Miss. I know the past several matchups in Death Valley have been close, but giving up 35 points is plain inexcusable.
The only teams to give up more than that were Central Arkansas, Tulane, and Auburn. Both Ole Miss and LSU left points on the field, so the score could have been higher for both. You should be embarrassed. Okay, you gave up considerable yardage, that's okay. LSU plays that way against spread offenses, but can usually keep the score decent (Oregon, West Virginia, Texas A&M). Rant.
No No No!
I have not read any other posts, but this is bad idea. If there's an 8-team playoff, it will likely be implemented for revenue purposes not just to the appease uneducated fans.

Football is the most physical sport I know. At this point in the season, teams have lost some significant depth. Increasing the size of a playoff only increases the likelihood of injuries. Also, teams won't be able to get as healthy since they'll have less time to rest. How much would it suck to lost your starting quarterback, left tackle, middle linebacker, etc. in the first game of an 8-team playoff? Those are very important positions, that can be difficult to replace so late in the season.
