See how ridiculous that is. Now tell me why anyone thought A&M was scared of anyone in the Big 12.

I am old enough to remember Arkansas time in SWC. I am old enough to remember how state of TX referees did all Arkansas Games. I am old enough to remember being taught to dislike Texas in all relations.

I am also old enough to remember Frank and Darrell had the plan to come together to the SEC. That was before the Texas politics squirrelled the deal.

Big 12 needs UT and OU to survive. SEC does not. IF Texas tries the tricks that can be part of their arsenal, 14 schools can ban together for protection. 14 schools with traditions and recognition and history to offer a cold shoulder and an exit sign to any school in the 16 team league. Texas is Texas, but they are not stupid. I don't expect them to be excited about it, but I do think it is in the realm of possibility that they learn that the way the SEC works can be a good thing. 16 marketable helmets is better than 2.

That was what was always so funny was Texas assumed that by saying they would discontinue the rivalry with A&M that we would come crawling back. Instead, we laughed at then and it ended up being one of the last straws for the few who opposed the SEC move.

Texas is not chasing A&M.. if Texas makes the move, it is because Texas wants the SEC, with or without A&M.

Oh I know Texas is only interested in what is best for Texas. The fatal flaw that I pointed out is that when Texas thought they could pressure A&M to stay by threatening to kill the rivalry it actually had the opposite effect. It's a big reason why Aggies have no interest in playing you ever again. We proved we don't need you and we want as little to do with you as possible. We don't want you in the SEC because we don't want to have to deal with you again. Go find another conference to destroy.

LOL!!!

Texsa didn't destroy Nebraska. Losing their partial qualifier shenanigan scheme is what hurt Nebraska and they never knew how to recruit, and they still don't.
You should read what their dipshit fans thought about Riley bringing our NFL players home to the ChampuBBQ recruiting event if you want to see how far behind their mentality is in the modern recruiting world.

Also, not being able to juice their players up on roids, keep criminals on their rosters, as well as being the last major team in the country to give up option football in favor of modernity set them even further behind. They still haven't installed the forward pass.

8. Alabama- 20% Tide folks would love to see more real competition in the league. It gets old playing 2-3 potentially tough games a season to get to the meat (SECCG and playoffs) of the season. Hell, there'll be excitement going on all season!

It will be a 14-0 vote. I have no idea if Texas Legislature has any real power either. Would the Governor just veto it?

I have been in Houston for 30 years, so I lived the animosity surrounding the two schools, especially the last 10 years. Honestly, as an A&M fan I can understand you guys not wanting UT in the conference. I have a ton of Aggie friend's and for the most part they are appalled at the idea of them coming over, but agree that it would definitely ramp up the intensify of college football.

Hell, as an LSU fan I am 50/50 on the deal myself. But from an SEC overall prospective, this is a no brainer. Expansion is bound to happen, it might as well be west rather east. It solidifies the conference's place at the top of college football for the foreseeable future, and it is a financial windfall.

And frick Texas.

1. Texas A&M - 99% Wants to be the only Texas SEC school.

2. Missouri - __% Left Texas in Big12 for a reason.

3. South Carolina - __% Would they want Clemson in SEC, maybe the align with A&M and vote no as a favor to keep Clemson out in the future?

4. Arkansas - __% not sure about this, they did leave Texas in the SWC but they may want the rivalry back.

5. LSU - __% My thinking is likely a yes, but Horns in the SEC potentially keeps some Texas talent in Texas. Austin would also likely be appealing to pull some Louisiana Talent to their program.

6. UK - __% Same argument as S. Carolina about keeping Louisville out the SEC. But I think UK would welcome UL to the Conference as a partner however UL to the SEC is not realistic under most scenarios.

7. Florida - __% Same argument as S. Carolina if they want to keep FSU. But I don't think they really care.

****Of course money trumps all, so this discussion is probably moot****

You forgot about Georgia Tech! Georgia is so powerful because they are the only SEC school in Georgia!

I think this vote will come down to how much fear South Carolina and Georgia are opposed to the idea of their ACC in-state rivals coming over.

& you're seeing GT &/or Clemson headed to the SEC when?

One thing that's going to have to be considered. The ACC 4 Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Florida will lose their veto power over their in state ACC brethren joining the second Texas and Oklahoma join. The required votes to block a member will go from 4 to 5.

Georgia already plays Ga Tech every year, so I cant see how adding them as a conference game would bother them. They certainly aren't a factor in recruiting and UGA would own Atlanta regardless.

In any case, the SEC would consider a half dozen other schools for expansion before Ga Tech came up.

If Texas/OU joins, that gives us 16. I guess anything is possible, but I cant imagine a scenario where we would expand again, unless current teams were to leave.

The conference will be at 16 teams with UT and Ou added so your point doesn't matter.

I think ACC is poised to follow sec immediately in their own super conference. I can definitely see ND joining formally for football that would be 16 since they are already at 15.
