Approx 1100 players will be looking for work. Some were in the 2022 class and played 4 years.

What I don’t fully understand is how much NIL money for the season is still available for teams.
Clearly been a bidding war for transfers. Are “NFL” guys signing at a big discount since it is so late and there is only so much money unspent?

I miss the days where when you weren’t good enough for the NFL, you went to Canada, the UFL, arena football or some other pro league.

There is no salary cap. The money available is whatever boosters want to put up for.

Ah yes, I too long for the days when college football rosters were built using Dodge Chargers.
It was a simpler time and college football was as pure as the driven snow.

Sure but the point is NIL is usually tied to how much other teams also want for your players/targets. Is there really going to be a bidding war for these guys 5 days before the season starts? Why would you give out big NIL money to players who are desperate and have no bargaining power?

Because people with a lot of money tend to do retarded things in the hopes of seeing their team win.
If school A doesn't pay up school B will find a way to do it. That's college football in 2026 and it's not great .

Effectively there is a limit on how much boosters will put up for NIL. Coaches already begging for as much as they can get. Most of that money was committed.
Not sure you really understand my point. NIL definitely has limits within any school. Boosters don’t give open checkbooks. Not how it works at all.

I never said it was perfect or pure in the days before NIL and the portal. It wasn’t pure chaos like it is now, though. You can’t seriously think what we have now is good. I mean, we have college football games starting tomorrow but the biggest stories right now are about lawsuits and injunctions.
And no, I’m not just talking about LSU. The entirety of major college sports is in complete pandemonium.

Well, if they’re not getting $ in the NFL, and they’re likely fighting the same NIL situation across the board as you pointed out, it’s probably their last good chance at getting one last good season under their belt for some more development & next year’s draft?

If they are cut and not offered a practice squad role then their football career is effectively over. Playing for room and board plus a better chance at being picked up again by the NFL 6 months from now might be good enough.
