LSU has gotten better in CFB (wants to be in NOLA)
Would love the game to be in NOLA, but seems unlikely with the sugar bowl and not really a central location.
I don’t want to get into the Nashville / atlanta pissing match in here, but Nashville has got to be the most overrated city on earth. I can only do so many bars with the exact same shitty cover bands covering the exact same set list.

Agree on logistics, but we’re talking about the largest cities in America. They all have direct, inexpensive flights, large venues, & accommodate weekend events this big (or bigger) multiple times a year.
“other places can do that” is a losing argument against “all of that already exists and has run smoothly in the same city for 28 years”

MBA / Private Equity thinking and sell me as a real fan
I’m not trying to sell anyone. CFB leaders view this more as a multi-billion dollar business venture & less of an amateur sport. That’s sadly how the SEC now operates and will continue to do so in the future…$$$ over tradition.

what waterheads like you don't seem to grasp is that the instant the SECCG were to leave Atlanta, the ACC would swoop in in milliseconds and claim it forever. That aint happening. The SECCG isn't going anywhere, although not sure why UT fans should concern themselves with its location anyway
F Atlanta. Nobody cares.
Texas will decide the location of the SECCG when Texas and Oklahoma join SEC next year. Isn't that what everyone love about Texas?

If you truly think this then the SEC will die in a generation or so and Utx will have been the canary in the coal mine. However, if the AD's, presidents, and others I speak with are to be believed then there is not a unanimous voice based on big business and just $$$$. Many are aware of the "deal with the devil" and modern media and it would not shock me if in the next generation we revisit 100 years ago and the SEC breaking away from the SIAA and SoCon run at the original "SuperConferences"
Bigger conferences
Paying athletes
Injuries / Death
Live game vs Media (Radio then TV)
What if my observation is correct and for college sports to survive it must return to regional rivals and smaller conferences again.

I don’t disagree greed has killed the soul of CFB. But, bigger is better is still the prevailing thought at the moment. And, as long as fans show up and tune in, that mindset will continue.

Atlanta has become a shithole in the last 15 years.

Atlanta is a shithole, no doubt, but Atlanta is the dead center of the Southeast. IT should stay in Atlanta. More SEC Alums live there more than anywhere else.

Atlanta population 2008: 4,200,000
Atlanta population 2023: 6,200,000
2 million people have freely chosen to move to ATL b/c it’s a shithole…that checks out.

This a 60,000 seat stadium. The average attendance at the SEC Championship game is around 75,000. The average face value of a ticket is around $200 I believe. That's $3M lost in ticket sales.
With the expansion of the playoffs, less people will give a crap about the sec championship game going forward. 15,000 less seats may be a good thing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the SECCG is dropped when the playoff expands. I don’t think you can ask a college team to play 17 games in a season.
This is the answer no one is going to want to hear but it seems more likely than rotating the game.
College football is changing and it's becoming more like the NFL. We'll probably have a conference winner based on tie-breakers and if that still doesn't decide it they'll have co-champs - what team strategically would want to play an extra game and risk falling out of the playoffs or seeding? The SEC champion title has already been diminished a few times with a non SEC champion winning the National championship.

Atlanta has been very good at hosting the SECCG. This game has become the premier conference championship game. I don't know who comes in second.
I will be surprised to see it go anywhere. Capacity, accommodations and large numbers of SEC alumni living in the Metro area make it an ideal location. I doubt Sankey wants to mess with something that is working splendidly.

no reason not to move it around especially with your presence in Texas - Cowboys Stadium, NRG Stadium, Nashville, New Orleans and Atlanta all viable options
Numerous options for basketball as well

This is wonderful news. Nashville's stadium is a much better location for fans. Atlanta's stadium has too much ghetto nearby. All I can do there is go eat at Chick-fil-A inside the CNN Center.

I still enjoy CFB, but suffer zero illusions. This ain’t the same sport I grew up watching. It’s a multi-billion dollar minor league business played and coached by 1099 mercenaries for hire.

Again, your logic is simply off.
The game isn’t held in Buckhead or Midtown. Nobody cares about green space....The game is held in downtown Atlanta. You may have visited the suburbs because no person in this city claims Altanta’s downtown is a great place to hang out and drink. Atlanta is obviously bigger. You think Nola can host a Super Bowl but not a Sec championship? Nashville will eventually host super bowls if it goes through.
The game should be rotated especially with playoff games now. Atlanta besides the busy airport (which sucks) is not the de facto best city

1-9 on the road, only way you’d have a chance…

It's different in the SEC, it's not every team for themselves. There's a reason Vandy gets as much money from HQ as Bama - in spite of your hired mercenaries. It goes against the trend and hearkens back to tradition.
