Between the NCAA and Congress I’m guessing the sport will be absolutely fricked over.

Government just got involved. When has that ever worked out? I rest my case.

This is the end of amateur college football. It is now College professional football. Money will determine where an athlete goes to college (NFL Farm Team).

That's it and that's all.

Welcome to the NFL minor league.

And yet the Cardinals are willing to pay Deandre Hopkins nearly 30 mil/year when he basically has all of the issues you mention above.

First of all, EVERY professional athlete that is in a team sport is overpaid by millions. But there again, you are equating a KNOWN commodity to a college kid who may or may not pan out.

How many teams will be in this league? Will each professional team get to pick the university they want as their farm team? There are about to be a lot of kids with great aspirations of playing in the league that will never get the chance. Also, I wonder how this will affect the HBCU's?

Sure he has. If there weren't restrictions, would an NFL team paid him $30 mil coming out of high school? What if he had gone to FAMU instead?

So, you love the idea of people not being fairly compensated for their labor? Duly noted.

I think a six figure value scholarship is pretty fair compensation. I also missed the part where any single person in the world was forced to play college sports.

But, if we're going to get into fair compensation, then every single person that receives one dime for playing a game is being overpaid when compared to people who actually work jobs that contribute to society.

six figures a year for an internship where the end results could be millions a year is pretty damned good for me. Where do I sign up coach...

This is probably the end of college sports as we know it.

Alot of sports will just be eliminated. Its kind of sad because a college softball player has worked just as hard as nay basketball player and they have reached the heights of that sport

The funny thing is the justices dont take into account how much the name on the front of jersey means than the back in college sports

People care about LSU football because its LSU. Now put all those players on some random bullshite minor league and no one will watch.

No one. There are no billion dollar contracts for minor league sports. They are basically on the level of bean bag tossing for paid tv rights

This will be a disaster all the way around

Lots of jobs revolve around entertainment, I would go so far as to say that if the US decided that participants of all forms of entertainment would have to do it for the perks only instead of monetary compensation our entire economy would collapse. Sports, music, movies, and video games are some of the largest segments of our economy and very rarely do any of them “contribute to society.”

You're happy about this? College football, in particular, will not be anything like you are used to seeing. All the five stars will go to the highest bidder and all others will be jaded because they don't get top pay. Small schools will be relegated to basically intramural sports.

12 team playoff.
Transfer portal.
NIL.

You nailed it. College Football is going to be altered radically and probably not for the best.

And its not fricking labor.

Its playing a sport

People equating this to digging ditches or cleaning out toilets is a joke.

Stop with the Labor. We all played for free forever. because its fun

This. Let the pros go play minor league football. People will still watch the Amateurs play LSU football.

Would it be so bad if NCAA Football were like NCAA Baseball?

I think not.

This shite is so wild to me. The athletes get to go to school for free, have access to the best facilities, doctors, trainers and meals around. Free room and board. All while getting to show off their skills to NFL / NBA / MLB scouts.

Do people forget that nobody is forcing these student athletes to play? If they felt that it wasn't worth it, they wouldn't do it.

I don't think it would be an issue except that we have coaches with multimillion dollar contracts, a billion dollar ball tournament, football facilities with silly things like slides and DJ recording booths. It has gotten ridiculous.

Can you imagine what it would be like to have never seen a televised scholarship signing? No hats or dogs on tables?

Not to mention the 3 billion dollar TV deal with CBS.

Is that cost the same for all scholarships from football right down to women's soccer???

It's been a few years since I saw the stat and I don't have the best memory, but as I recall it was mostly the cost of the scholarship, housing, food etc.

It didn't include things like coaches salaries in it.

I don't know how much of that is the same between sports, since they have weird rules on that I recently learned from Matt Wyatt's baseball video.
