Would it be so bad if NCAA Football were like NCAA Baseball?

I think not.

It wouldn't be bad at all. And this brings up a good point. There is nothing they can do about the NFL just straight up not wanting them until they are 21.

However, it would be nice if they were allowed to declare for the draft, and then return if they didn't go where they wanted. Will that put more stress on the NFL/NFL draft? Yeah, but that's their shite to figure out.

That is one thing the NCAA should absolutely do. It's basically a job interview/offer, that should be allowed.

The players just can't sign with an agent until they make the decision to leave, just like now, but everything else should be available.

Remember this when college football as you know it today doesn't exist in the next decade or so.

Says someone who probably votes for politicians that gut institutions crucial for impoverished communities, such as public primary education.

Also, scholarship sports existed long before the current college football era with massive TV contracts, etc.

Unfortunately, over 40% of our population gets their news from institutions who pushed that story extremely hard purely for political gains. So, you never really know.

People like plate Johnson are retarded

They seem to equate a Zion Williamson to the tens of thousands of other athletes in college. They aren’t the same. 99% of not going to be pros

Getting to play college sports is the top, echelon of their athletic life. Wait until a lot of these sports are discontinued etc

The market value for the seventh man on wake forest is basically nil. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Now he’s going to get paid while, the men’s soccer team gets disbanded

Hopefully,they find a good way to,deal,with this

I can tell you a UF education isn't worth a 1st round pick's signing bonus...that is for damn sure.
So how many kids (besides Alabama ) are gonna be sure they're going to be 1st round draft choices coming out of high school? What about the kids that don't end up contributing to the success of the program, or the ones who get injured and can't finish their career?
You're either too young, or too short sighted to be able to looks at the "big picture".

For agreeing with the entire supreme court on this case?

I did no such thing.

99% of not going to be pros

Majority aren’t even in P5 college football programs. What’s your point?

How does this recent SCOTUS equate to a random wake forest player getting paid? The benefits are still at the institutions’ discretion. If they want to give their athletes laptops, what’s the fricking problem?

The NCAA argument for expansive amateurism is just anachronistic in an age where revenue-generating sports make billions.

Also, lets understand that today the Supreme Court only chipped away at restrictions on academic compensation in the NCAA amateurism regime. These were the most ridiculous limitations. The concerning part for those who cherish the current amateurism regime is Kavanaugh‘s concurring opinion where he all but called for test cases on other NCAA amateurism restrictions. There is a clear cross ideological agreement in the SCOTUS on this stuff and I wonder if the courts chip away at the rest of the amateurism program over the next decade.

If college sports ended today. Done. Kaput

What do you think future high school athletes market value is. You have just got rid of the free marketing that playof for these schools in front of millions of people provides

That is gone. Nobody is going to know their names. No one is going to care about them

There may be a minor league system that will basically pay them at a poverty level. And minor leagues are being contracted not expanded. See baseball

We will see where this goes.
