We gonna have a draft too?
Trades?
This league will be totally separated from the University in some way? Completely separated from the athletic departments?
The players will be signing a collective bargaining agreement as well?
How, exactly, are they supposed to set this up?
No draft and no trades, lol and a salary cap for sure to start. The other shite can be figured out and set up and run much better than it is now...thats my whole point. What the frick does the NCAA.do anyway in college sports today? They could mimic some of the good aspects and exponentially improve on other shitty aspects. Idk all the answers man, shite. I just know it could be done much better and i believe would lead to an even better brand/product, more popularity and more money. Something will be done. We will see how all of it unfolds when its time.

Someone very powerful decided college football was problematic and put the wheels in motion 5-6 years ago to ensure its destruction. That’s the only explanation.

The NCAA is paying for busting players for penny-ante stuff to try to preserve the illusion that this is amateur sports.

Won’t be shocked when some universities shut it all down

You used to have to go through the clearing house and have your transcripts accepted. That needs to come back.
Not gonna happen unfortunately, unless the SEC & B1G break off and are allowed to create their own set of rules. I'm sure the attorney's are busy putting something together. We all knew something like this was coming.. surely the people in charge did too..

O'Bannon v. NCAA was the domino..
The trial lasted from June 9 to June 27, 2014.
On August 8, 2014, Wilken ruled that the NCAA's long-held practice of barring payments to athletes violated antitrust laws. She ordered that schools should be allowed to offer full cost-of-attendance scholarships to athletes, covering cost-of-living expenses that were not currently part of NCAA scholarships. Wilken also ruled that college be permitted to place as much as $5,000 into a trust for each athlete per year of eligibility.
As a result of O'Bannon, a number of other class-action lawsuits filed by student athletes against the NCAA and colleges followed, challenging other restrictions on educational funds as being anti-competitive. These were combined into a single suit also heard by Judge Wilken, who ruled against the NCAA in March 2019 and required the NCAA to allow students to obtain other non-cash scholarships, internships and other support beyond the full cost of attendance for academic purposes.
Once there was a chink in the armor.. it all fell apart..

Lmao if someone doesn’t take the reins soon these kids are going to be playing in a league similar in popularity to the XFL. This is fricking stupid.

Nothing. The courts neutered them

Can’t wait to see how Notre Dame looks on Monday with Shadeur @ QB, Hunter/Ryan Williams/McMillan at WR and Warren at TE

Well, all that has to be worked out before a new league could form.
You mention a salary cap. You're going to need a cba as well.
I don't think any of it is doable to be totally honest. A cap is dead on arrival because NIL is not ever going to be subject to a cap. And you're not going to get a collective bargaining agreement at all, ever.
It's best to just accept the wild west nature of the new system and adapt.
You can't half implement an nba/nfl cap model without the other necessary components. These leagues have drafts/trades/free agents built into the structure to make things "fair."

NCAA is run by a bunch of fricktards.

Won’t be shocked when some universities shut it all down
But when schools start shutting down programs because of this, those same kids won’t be able to go to college now due to not having an athletic scholarship. I hope it all crashes and burns at this point. The players need to be shown how stupid this is and the only way is to take away the opportunity all together

Anyone saying this has never stepped foot on a college campus, at least not for academics.
At the end of the day, who is really going to have a field day is the IRS. Because at least 50% these players will “forget” to pay taxes on their NIL income, yet their benefactors will 100% turn in the receipts. And when the IRS comes calling in a few years to collect on back taxes, the players won’t have the capital or cash flows to pay their bills as they’ll have already run through everything

The only true college team sports are now intramural teams. School/team loyalty is dead and gone. The college armature athlete is dead and gone. Following a recruit and watching him mature through the program is dead and gone. All of this sucks and takes away the pride of being in a state like Alabama that does not have a pro team…the college teams meant everything. Now, it is mercenary ball, and has officially killed the college football experience.

Also get ready for 10th year/season players, NFL and other league’s players getting cut and returning to college etc.

Just when I think they can’t do more to destroy this game, they somehow find a way.
Posted on 1/17/25 at 8:20 pm to jonnyanony
I have become completely uninterested in college football now. The last five years have completely destroyed what was once the greatest sport on the planet.
