We really helped ourselves out last night beating a 14-0 Liberty team. If we didn't win that, we'd have to play near perfect in conference play to get into the tournament, now we're probably on the better side of the bubble at the moment. Auburn and Arkansas only 2 teams "in" right now but I still have my doubts on if Arkansas can stay up there with a complete lack of bigs in SEC play.

State has hurt themselves with a couple of puzzling losses to LA Tech and New MXST.

We have the potential but we have got to produce on the hard court.

We will see in conference play if we can fulfill that potential.

I think we'll go 11-7ish and be in the 8-10 range again

Yay

How can you say this? The NET rankings are like brand new.

LSU moved up 22 spots yesterday just for beating Liberty.... Kentucky was #71 on Saturday. Now they are #44. That's the point.

There are wild movements this time of year because there is simply not enough data. Within a few weeks, it starts to make sense and you don't see teams rise and fall 30 spots in a week.

Right now, there is far too much movement for any particular daily ranking to be a solid indication of how good a team actually is.

65. Alabama (up 13 spots)

I'm very cautionary when it comes to getting excited about our basketball team, but averaging over 95 points in the last three games and currently #11 in offense has me cautiously optimistic. Beating a Richmond team by 12 who is 10-3 is a nice way to lead into the SEC schedule. Being #1 in the SEC in scoring (though I doubt Alabama remains on top, but the fact they are 12 games in is saying something about how much they've evolved) is a nice statement too.

It does seem that Bama has turned the corner. They could very well compete for the SEC based on how they are playing right now.

No doubt. That was a must-win.

Here is Bama's resume:

#15 Penn State- LOSS
#59 Stephen F Austin- WIN
#64 Iowa State- LOSS
#69 Rhode Island- LOSS
#77 Richmond- WIN
#85 Belmont- WIN
#91- N. Carolina- LOSS
#98 Furman- WIN
#101 Penn- LOSS

.. Plus 3 more Q4 wins

Some of those losses are going to be tough to overcome. Those are 9 games against quality opponents, however I'm not sure any of the above teams outside of Penn State are looking like a lock to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.... possibly UNC if they can get it together in January.

Bama is going to need to win a minimum of 12 games with at least 20 left to play. Again, that's doable, but there isn't much room for error.

Yeah, that early stretch certainly put Alabama behind the game. I wish the team had turned it on sooner, but glad they did at all. Even if we miss out on the tournament, seeing the team trend upwards is nice.

It does seem that the middle of the SEC is on somewhat equal footing. So long as we don't all cannibalize each other, we should see a few make it.

I was in this camp until the game yesterday. During certain parts of that game about everything was going wrong. Foul trouble on a short bench during road game down double digits is a really bad spot. I have underestimated how mentally tough this team is, the biggest concern at this point is staying healthy.

As musselman has continued to say, Arkansas creates mismatches by playing so small and that can get overlooked.

Auburn went 26-8 two years ago with one of the smallest lineups in college basketball. If you are quick, athletic, and can shoot the three you will mismatch larger slower teams.

So what you’re saying is that LSU lost. Got it.

No. What he's saying is not all losses are the same, which is reflected in the NET score, idiot.

This is actually a really good comparison that has been brought up before. Both teams were playing a 6'5'' player at the 4 basically. Arkansas needs to improve from deep though, which I think will happen over time.

I would say Okeke and McLemore were way better than Adrio Bailey. Also taller.

Ole Miss has losses to:

#13 Memphis
#29 Oklahoma State
#4 Baylor

Only quality win though is:

#15 Penn State

Way better? Nah but they were better offensively for sure.

Bailey is actually a very good defender. Bailey is also an inch or two smaller than those guys.

NET is supposed to be what the committee is using now. But it’s wildly inconsistent until later in the season.
