Fans were tired of college football; the greedy decision makers watered it down with 12 teams. I think 8 teams was an idea number.

Why doesn't ESPN put it on ABC...It would get better rating that way.

BTW, I hate ESPN productions. They just aren't good at all.

Pretty much far far behind NBC, CBS, Fox in any way you look at game production quality.

Based on personal experience and a number of friends, it does seem that:

1) quite a few people just got out of the habit of being so tuned in during the "pandemic" seasons

2) many cancelled cable and never ended up adding the services with ESPN

College sports has suffered as well, IMO, due to NIL/portal bullshite. Many people don't care as much as they used to or don't at all anymore. Sports have become too corporate and too focused on the bottom dollar for networks.

Not a big fan of 20 min commercial breaks every 3 minutes?

Somewhat interesting and concerning that some many of the lowest rated games have come since transfer portal.

Not as many folks watched because everyone hates Ohio st and nobody really thought Notre Dame had a chance. They lost to Northern Iceland Tech A&M, only beat one ranked team during the regular season (Army) and then took down UGA with their backup QB. Not to mention they've been choking in big games for 20 years now.

And again, NO one wanted to set up on a weekday night, except homo Suckeye fans, and watch Ohio St celebrate a win. They are just a team that everyone, and I mean EVERYONE hates.

Commercial breaks have gotten way too long. I don’t really care how frequent they are, care more about how long they are when they break.

NFL takes a lot of commercial breaks but each break is only like 2 minutes.

College football might take a 4 minute commercial break. That’s f’n ridiculous.

Interesting that 3 of the lowest rated championship games have been in the last 5 years

Too far removed from where it used to be on January 1 or thereabouts

If the number doesn’t get them nervous, that it was for these two teams should.

Most of the people on this board are bigger fans of college football than most, and I don't think many of us gave much of a shite about this game. If we can't get hyped for it, then I'm not surprised the ratings are shite.

And absolutely nothing to do with the changing landscape of college football.

If u think ratings were low for this one, imagine the game going against the nfl on a Saturday or Sunday.

Actually suprsing 2020 was so low considering everybody was stuck at home..

2020 was quite a farce of a year.

I member when State was gifted a natty in baseball due to the cold and sniffle virus that forced NC State to go home.
